Wii U to support Unity

Unity Logo

Unity is a game development engine that packs quite a bit of punch considering its basic version is available for free. One of its other, most compelling features though is that it allows developers to bring their games to many different platforms much easier than other engines would allow. Luckily, Nintendo has teamed up with the company to make sure Unity will work with the Wii U, “allowing the current 1.2 million registered users to bring their existing titles to Nintendo’s new platform”.

Cool! I use Unity for my school projects.

  • Pyroblock

looks like i can put my games on the wii u :p

  • Holonboy

That’s awesome for indie developers. I know a decent amount of Javascript, and I’m still studying computer science. Maybe in the future I could have a game in the eShop.

But, eh, dreams are just dreams for now.

ya know the indie game slender? it was built from the unity engine. So this means there is a better chance for indie games like slender to get on the Wii U eshop.

If developer Retro Studios or Platinum Games were to use the Unity Engine in their next AAA Wii U title, it’s gonna be an epic hit (bad pun)!!!!!!!

    • briff

You are definetly confusing Unity and Unreal.

    YES YES YES YES!
This is very exciting. Ive been hoping for this eversince Wii U was announced. And it makes sense seeing how Wii was the first console Unity supported. I am very excited now as I currently use Unity to earn a little income. Now I just need a secured building, Nintendo license, and a dev kit..

YES! I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who thought this. :D It would really bring a lot more people to it, too. The game is ridiculously laggy on my PC, so it would be a miracle for me if WiiU could run it. :DD /excitedevenmore

Let´s hope Nintendo will allow everyone to make their games available-maybe for free/a few bucks-after checking if the game´s all right…
