Nintendo is set to hold a media briefing for the Wii U in New York City on the 13th of September. Reggie Fils-Aime will lead the presentation, and he plans to share “more about how the Wii U will change the future of gaming and entertainment”. There’s no specifics as to what will be at the event, but this has to be the event where the release date and price are announced. Get excited!

    *Martinet voice* Wooo-Hoooo!

  • George Tirebiter

I think we were expecting this would happen via Nintendo Direct, but whatev. Maybe a deliberate press event will have a better chance of being noticed by regular news outlets, and that exposure can help more people realize that this is a new console (if only a few).

    • David

I’m thinking Japanese details will still come via a Direct presentation. But these events make the most sense if they want people to have hands-on time with the system.

    • Megajacob

you should get invited to these things!

    • yoshibro45

Hey David can you do a video that has you with no hat p.s. pretty things are pretty-David Turnbull

  • Samrat

Be hopeful because we may know the price, or cautious because we may be devestated by the high price?

  • Carlos

Does this event will be live streaming or not?

    • TheUNation

I have a gut feeling that NINTENDO DIRECT will present the live streaming. The time will be announced later.

  • Someguy

It’s pretty obvious they will announce it then, but David so knob he thinks it won’t.
    Proof:

    David believes in this quote:

“Any headline which ends in a question mark can be answered by the word ‘no’.”
    (Source: http://wiiublog.com/is-the-wii-u-doomed/)

David added a question mark, so he thinks it won’t, wut a nubwub
    Pwnd.

    • Co-Wink-Key dink inc

That was a retarded article David put up for fun or something (No offense David (: )
Rumors can be true, yet when they started, Mr Question mark is there

    • David

Uh, that entire “Law of Headlines” is tongue-in-cheek to begin with. I was using it to poke fun specifically at that article I was writing about.

  • Lemon

“Get excited!” — Too late, I’m already excited! Been like that since E3 last year.

  • Vulpix

    Finally its about time.

  • TheUNation

On September 13th, my body is ready!

  • pocketmanu

6 hours! A lot of time for a lot of information to be revealed. Awesome!

  • Midori

    Exited?? What for?

  • Co-Wink-Key dink inc

I wish I was in Halifax now, It would be cheaper getting to New York and Halifax, maybe I could be there At this event

*Microsoft, and Sony executives mark there calendars*

  • Ice Climbers

It’s about time! Finally! My body is ready!!!

    • Ice Climbers

      But my wallet’s not.

  • Hybrilynx

i want it expensive so i know its good like my xbox, but i want it cheap so that it wouldnt feel like nintendo is a rip off like everyone else, especially after the $250 3ds. that still doesnt send normal messages or even got the freaking flipnote memo yet, which i dont even care about anymore but wanted for almost a year after the 3ds release day.

    • Ice Climbers

I believe normal messaging will come when Miiverse comes to the 3DS…. So next year.

    • Hybrilynx

i hope so. i dont know why they never had it when the wii had it. and i dont know why the wii never was able to get images from emails when it gets images from wii’s.

    • Ice Climbers

Yeah there’s a lot of little things like that that need to be fixed. Hopefully it will all be fixed by next summer at the very latest.

    • BellaKazza

Thinking that something is good solely on price is a terrible thing.
I HATE the fact that the Xbox 360 is SO FREAKING EXPENSIVE to maintain, play and buy.
My goodness, with everything you need to buy just to get the full experience out of the system is insane.
Yet, the Wii is awesomely priced and twice as fun yet two times less expensive.
The 360 is not great or very user friendly.

    • Hybrilynx

i just pay $60 a year for online playing for cod but now i only care about minecraft. personally besides our $60 a year for online gaming i dont know how else they get money becuz im not going to pay even $30 for a game unless if i really want it.

i like the xbox way more then anything currently nintendo becuz if im playing cod and someone seems cool, i can chat with them and maybe even ask them if they have minecraft and if they do we can stop playing cod where we met and start playing minecraft online with each other. just like that. nothing is hard about it at all. just add them as a friend, then thats it. just start minecraft with online play, then anyone can join very easily. currently nintendo has nothing even close to that. i think the closest i went to that from nintendo was on metroid prime hunters, shooting at the ground then the walls spelling fc for friend code stuff and later changing our names to our friend code etc etc. its the only way to play a different mode besides battle mode. unless i use a action replay but people quit online if its not battle mode.

also i dont know how much we got it for since my brother got it, but our xbox has 120GB of memory so its pretty much a lifetime supply. it might seem unless but theres so many trails games on the xbox and thats what my brother plays sometimes, and even trail games goes online too, where you can still even chat with people i think. when you dont even have the game. also xbox lets us download game disks into the system, so that stuff loads faster. wait i dont know why im saying all of this you probably have a xbox anyway.

    • BellaKazza

3 Things, spelling, grammer and proper English. Learn it.
      Anyways.
A systems fun factor should not be judged by it’s online capability.
Yes online is “fun” depending on who it is but a system should not be judged upon that.
By the way, do you happen to be 12? Because I know a lot of 10 year olds who love CoD like you.
$60 Bucks a year for online is quite a pretty penny might I add and the cost of the system in general is horrible like I said before.
I have an Xbox 360 too smart guy and a Wii.
And so far, the Wii is better in most ways, even if the 360 has better online multi-player.
Also, I don’t need online multi-player, I HAVE 4 BROTHERS TO PLAY WITH.
      Booyah.

    • Hybrilynx

but they see everything you see on the same screen. you cant sneak up on someone to do anything that special. hd gets divided by 2 or 4 smaller screens. the audio gets fused with other players. i hate multiplayer games on one tv screen.

also i forgot to mention but yahoo told me how to get free multiplayer online for xbox. it doesnt have what gold has, but it said i could play online games without paying $60 a year. in case if thats what you use xbox for. i dont know if its actually a yahoo wanna be scan, but you can check it out yourself here http://games.yahoo.com/blogs/plugged-in/20-tips-getting-most-xbox-360-000937092.html if you care. but its like a $60 life saver.

and i play cod becuz its worth playing over mw3 and wasting more money on other shooting games that are pretty much the same thing over and over again.

and im 22 and i dont bother with spelling or grammar unless its important like my website or certain emails. just like when people dont bother about it in text messages.

    • BellaKazza

22? Really now? Your comment says that you are 12, if you are 22 act and write like it.
You know, at least when you play split screen multi-player you have people by you, and that is half the fun.
Online multi-player just seems so impersonal, to me, I speak for no one else.
And that blog was completly pointless, I think I’ve already derived full use out of my Xbox 360.
You know nothing of video games, typical CoD head.

    • Hybrilynx

i know how to make games in javascript ^-^ and not bad. at least, with 0% help from anyone. thats a video game, at least. i think. remember my name you will see my in your 3ds browser ^-^ roarrr!

    • BellaKazza

I think you are way too prideful and confident.
      Boarderline arrogance.

  • riku
  • StarTropics

I already have $100 down for it

  • Ice Climbers

Hope Nintendo announces that game that Retro is working on.

  • Sonic200012

9:00 AM to 3:00 PM CDT on September 13th. Awesome! Can’t wait! Also, I have a PS3 and not a Xbox 360, so yay for me! Online play on the PS3 may not be as good, but it’s better than paying $60 for Xbox Live. Anyway, back to the Wii U. I think the price and the release date will be announced at the September 13 event in New York. I think the price will be $300 at launch, and it will be released in mid to late November. I’m going to go ahead and say Nov. 18, which would go along with Nintendo’s recent history of products being released on Sunday, and also the fact that there were some games coming out on the 22nd and 23rd, so that rules out Sunday the 25th.

  • http://www.facebook.com/martin.kearney.104 Martin Kearney

Is it just me, or should they announce Retro Studios’ new game on the Wii U.

  • Jray

maybe we’ll even be able to watch the whole event on the eshop like what they did with their E3 event, since this event takes place on a Thursday, it might be available to watch that afternoon for anyone who missed it :D
