Turtle Beach Headset Voice Chat

In some games, voice chat will be possible via the Wii U. For the moment, we know the feature is supported in Assassin’s Creed 3, Call of Duty Black Ops 2, and Mass Effect 3. But the microphone that’s built into the GamePad cannot be used for voice chat. You’ll have to use a stereo headset, like one from Turtle Beach.

No biggie the mic is more than likely crap anyways, plus wireless headsets are already being made on top of the ones going through the gamepad. and the usb ones in development. Or in short, no one should care, ever.

    • Luca

I wouldn’t want to use the mic on there, if there is background noise it is too annoying, and it would also be hard to enable / disable it.

    • Marty

      exactly.

    • Ichigo Kurosaki

My thoughts exactly as well. If these are the headsets I hope they come in black as well.

  • Pyroblock

this came from a rep, not someone importaint i honestly dont believe it til i hear it from some one that matters

  • Amon

I think im ordering the Afterglow universal wireless headset, cba stumbling in the cords (usb at least with turtle beach) just hoping they are worth it (?)>_> I really dont mind that the pro controller doesn’t have connectivity to mic, im not planning to lay down the gamepad once I get my hands on it! ;)

    • Tails the Foxhound

Pro controller has no mic port so you can’t use wired mics on it, you can use USB mics though. You can use either on the Gamepad.

  • Carlos

It´s like if evolution gave us the hands but did not allow us to use the thumbs freely.

  • CBNS

I just hope i could use my headphones with handsfree while playing Wii U. Atleast they work well with my 3DS so there is a chance.

  • TDutts

it sucks but makes sense.the vita does voice chat with the mic and so does the 3ds i think, but on a console were the volume is much louder it makes sense to use a headset but the microphone option would be nice if ur playing online with just the controller and no tv and u could use the Mic for voice chat say on Mario.(not that it will have it.

    • BellaKazza

Wait…..I can do voice chat on the 3DS?????

    • Omarsonic9

Yup, on heroes of ruin, and send sound notes on Swapnote.

  • facetouch

I just hope my Astro headsets will work.

  • BigRedBro

Whaaaaaaaaaaaat! Then whats the point in having a very capable and inovating gamepad if this isn´t posible????? I hope this is wrong or fixed!!

  • Deboog

Brilliant. Give us a microphone but don’t let us voice chat with it. Brilliant.

Oh well, I wouldn’t want the mic picking up external sounds anyway I guess.

  • warren

Why would we wanna hear all the button pressing and analog moving im glad.

    • Hybrilynx

with smart people, they can prevent or at least reduce certain sounds just like the kinect, when its right in front of the tv. im sure buttons wouldnt be heard at all if we used the gamepad.

  • Hybrilynx

what do you mean some games? i hope we can chat with anyone, or at least friends, at anytime, like xbox. if we cant do that the the wii is crap. the same goes for playing music at any time.

    • Omarsonic9

      Don’t worry, updates will come.

    • Tails the Foxhound

Remember, the Xbox didn’t launch with cross game chat.

    • Hybrilynx

yes but its not something new to games. a live chat should have been in their agenda from the beginning. if its not.

  • Omarsonic9

Everyone, don’t complain. They made this because there are sounds coming out of the Wii U gamepad, that means when you’re voice chatting it might be annoying for some people.

However, I hope we can put a headphone (with mic) on the gamepad.

    • Hybrilynx

so whats wrong with using the gamepad as a mic and just use a wii remote and nunchuck to play the games?

I’m getting the Turtle Beach N11 headset for Wii U & 3DS anyways (the NLa headset pictured above is too cheap), so I’m not worried about lack of mic support on the gamepad.

    • Tails the Foxhound

I hope the Astro A40s I want are compatible, a friend let me use his and the sound was so sexy on Xbox.

My friend got the new Turtle Beach DXL-1 headset and handed down his old Turtle Beach EarForce X41 headset to me. Its sound quality is superb, but both the DXL-1 and X41 are Xbox exclusive, and require an Xbox 360 controller for the mic to function.
The design of the N11 for Wii U and 3DS looks alot like the DXL-1.

button pressing can be heard on xbox and ps3 also, so that explanation doesn`t confort us,

voice chat through THE WII U GAMEPAD should work at all games that have the function.

  • nj200

The reason why I can beloved this is because what happens when you use the pro controller I’m sure that doesn’t have a microphone. I belived this is a way for nintendo to tell us to tell us to buy a head set. Plus hearing the person back would be terrible

the console is out guess what it does support voice chat trough gamepad
