Nintendo of America has sent out invites for a media briefing that will be held in New York City. This is where we’re expecting to hear the release date and price of the Wii U. Usually, we’d also expect an equivalent event in Europe. Nintendo, however, has confirmed this will not be the case:

We are not planning a specific European event like NOA, however we are looking to put the new Wii U console in the hands of as many people across Europe as possible and we will be in contact with news of our UK communications plan in the near future.

But still, “[putting] the new Wii U console in the hands of as many people across Europe as possible” sounds like a fair trade-off.

      .___. It’s most likely a press event… So probably what does it matter that we live in the US if we aren’t allowed to attend? And anyone/everyone around the world can view it online anyways…
      We’ll still complain because the EU gets way more ported JP games than we do, and the few games that we do get from Japan take years to reach our shores… ;-;

    I live in Northern Ireland, I could only imagine how awesome it would be if they had a big Wii U event in the Odyssey in Belfast. It saddens me that they don’t have events in Northern Ireland. the closest thing to an event we got was a look at the 3DS in Dublin. I couldn’t even go because the train was too expensive.

    Rant aside I can’t wait to see what information they reveal at this media briefing.
