Miiverse 9

Satoru Iwata has revealed that Nintendo plans to host a Nintendo Direct broadcast that focuses on the Miiverse functionality within the system. There’s no specific time announced as of yet though, so we just know that it’s coming at some point soonish.

Yeeeeessss! AM or PM, I’m definitely watching it.
…Unless it just happens to be during school. D:

This is when you do the network access trick by unplugging the network cable during system load to load the backup internal drive giving you admin access and plugging it back in right after Y:// fails to load. This is assuming you are using a Novel login system with an actual tower and not a terminal PC.

Omg thanks man my schools system is like that, im going to try this.

I’ve heard from some users that this will occur just before the U is launched. possibly a week – 2 weeks tops

I think that Miiverse will be available like 2 weeks after system launch.

It is the Home menu of the WiiU, so I don’t think so…

It is a service that applies to the home menu of the Wii U.

Ahh, thanks for clearing that up. I am undecided if I want to put my Wii U next to my NES and the rest of my Nintendo game systems hooked up to my CRT or if I should place it next to my red PS3 on my 50 inch plasma and make it feel jealous. These TVs are on different floors. Which is better? Next to the classics and all my games, or on a large movie TV where I have no games.

Keep in mind that not all services that are accessible on the home menus of other consoles, including the 3DS (Internet Browser), have been available day one.

I heard that there was some extra MiiVerse content that people said was not going to be available at system launch. I read that on Screwattack though.

Except Miiverse isn’t the Home Menu for the Wii U console. It just appears when the console first starts up. There were some reporters who were given a look at the main menu and had said it’s somewhat similar to the 3DS’ home menu.

    • Ice Climbers

Except Miiverse is what’s shown on the TV, with the home menu on the GamePad. There’s no reason why Miiverse would not be available at launch, especially since both Iwata and Reggie have said that it will be available at launch.

You can probably alternate between the Gamepad and the TV. They also said the eShop would be available at the 3DS’ launch. It’s a good idea to have a benefit of the doubt.

Can’t wait! It’s hard to believe we’re less than 3 weeks from the release of the Wii U.

T-minus 18 days and counting. All aboard!!!!!!

    Finally…

They should also talk about Nintendo Network and what it offers because we know NOTHING about it! We don’t know if it’s going to be as bad as the Wii internet or as good as Xbox Live. And it leaves me thinking, maybe Nintendo aren’t ready to announce anything yet because it’s not final yet, so we may even see a broken and unfinished online service at launch. Nintendo should stop promising the world. Dislike this comment as much as you want but Nintendo deserve some bad critique sometimes when they screw up. I might even wait till next year to get a Wii U because at that time, most if not all features are available and there may even be a hardware update with more storage space.

    • Link01000

So you’re going to get the system based on the online functionality and not the game quality? Well, I guess every has their own opinion, but I can probably say now that it won’t be as good as Xbox live.

    • blabla

The Wii U mostly consist of ports at the moment and Nintendo Land is not a console seller for me personally. Pikmin is coming out next year along with a ton of other games. I’d rather wait so I can see how the console is doing and so I can see which games are going to be announced in the future. I’m excited for Bayonetta 2 but that game is probably not going to see a release before late 2013 or early 2014.
I was going to buy the Wii U day 1 but I just don’t know enough about the system so that I would spend 350$.
The Wii U is without a doubt going to be an amazing system, but as of now, I know little to nothing about the actual system (features and OS)

Ok I need advice quick im either getting a ps3 or WiiU and if i buy the ps3 it will be like 100 cheaper with 2 game bundle. And the ps3 is going to last anorther 4 years. What is the wiiU lifespan can some one give me reason why to buy it?

    • Big E

Give yourself reasons, don’t ask anyone else if you should or shouldn’t. Just heed advice from this site as well as others. Besides, the system isn’t released yet so nobody can give credible advice right now.

    • AxGamer

Nintendo systems are rarely defective unlike the disk scratching playstations or the red ringing Xbox systems. Im going by track record.
