The tester who leaked the photo of the Wii U controller has (apparently) been fired

As a follow-up to this story (which involved a leaked photo of the Wii U controller in its final form), it seems as if the leaker of that photo has since been fired. According to Erlend Wollan, a system development consultant, the person who leaked the image may even be taken to court. A very messy situation, indeed.

      He broke a non-disclosure act, and did anyone really care about seeing the controller? it’s not like much has changed, I don’t know, it seems like he’s an irresponsible fool to me…

      WTF? He leaked a almost useless photo. To get fired, you are treating some dumb-ass NICE! No, no, and no. That guy was obviously told not to! And he did so anyways.

    Old controller or not, the guy would’ve still gotten fired.

    For example, lets say Microsoft makes a prototype of the Xbox 720. Then Microsoft says “F*** this, lets just make a totally new Xbox and call it the Xbox 3″. A developer who had a dev kit for the 720 will say, ” Oh, the 720 was scrapped, so that means i can show pictures of it, specifications, etc.” In a matter of time, the 720 leaker will get taken to court (Microsoft’s decision) and possibly be fired.

    And now people will say to me “But it’s just a proto, so it doesn’t matter!”.

    No, it DOES matter. Like I said before, prototype or not, you can still get into some deep sh*t. I still do not believe that this is the final controller because it just doesnt make any sense…

      Agreed. I’m fairly certain that Nintendo would treat any hardware leak of this nature the same way (with the exception of what’s already been shown to the public).

      It’s Nintendo’s property, still under the non-disclosure act. And also protected from ANY distribution, I agree with you. It was never meant to be released and I still highly doubt it will be the final design simply because… its worse … on so many levels

    WAIT! Do you realize that the guy who tweeted that the other guy got fired?? If you read his tweet, he says, “…the new wii u controller (now with sticks!)”

    The guy is just confirming that it IS the new controller. Wouldn’t he get busted too for spreading the word, and actually confirming the controller?

    OR maybe the guy is trying to save Nintendo’s butt by trolling us by saying that the leaked photo is the new one, when maybe there’s a different version. AHHH, im confusing myself! :/

      The Controller is much better then before dude -_- except that the screen may got smaller, but it doesn’t seem like that ^^

      But still, Analog Sticks are MUCH better (when they’re clickeble) then Circle Pads!!!

      you must need glasses. The new controllers size hasn’t changed at all they just added more buttons and turned the 2 circle pads to into regular analog sticks

    Well it’s no wonder you don’t see good leaks like this more often. It would have made a whole lot of sense for the guy to just keep his mouth shut, but no… he had to go and spoil the whole E3 reveal as well as get himself into a whole bunch of insoluble legal trouble.

    Well on one hand I’m glad he leakd it so we could all catch a glimpse of the “new” controller, but on the other hand when you sign an NDA and you are working on a secret project, its your responsibility to follow through on it. If Nintendo and TT games let it slide then their NDA’s in the future won’t mean anything because nothing will happen if they are broken. He has to be made an example of what happens if you break your NDA. And for anyone who plans to ever leak anything, don’t put it on your personal accounts, just upload things under an alias in a forum !!!

      He leaked valuable information about the Wii U. He did this illegally, therefore it makes perfect sense to take him to court.

    That’s sad, hopefully he doesn’t get into too much trouble. Even if it is his own fault, most likely being told by various higher-ups to not leak anything, and still doing it. Although as a tester he was probably excited to be a part of the Wii U team, thanks to him we got a nice sneak peek. Long live controller leak guy.
