We heard a rumour about a game known as Sonic Dimensions coming to the Wii U. It sounded all kinds of amazing, but now, when asked about the rumour, Takashi Iizuka of SEGA responded with:

Sonic Dimensions? [Laughs] I think it’s a complete hoax. [Laughs]

And while I’m all for conspiracy theories, when the producer for a game development company straight-up says something is fake, it usually is fake. The inverse of that is, if they say one rumour is fake, then respond to other rumours with “no comment” you can be fairly sure there’s truth. In this particular case though, it does seem like the rumour was a hoax.

  • Rc…Hyped for Wii U

    Well, that sucks.
    :(
Oh well, there will still be a lot of good games for Wii U.

  • Trulaw

“I think it’s a complete hoax” So does that mean he’s not sure?

    • Revolution5268

      maybe not true

  • Paul T.

The GOOD news is that idea might NOT have been SEGA’s but, that means it might end up as THEIR idea, ahh the joys of Rumors & Inspiration…

  • Link_95

I knew it was complete BS. I mean Sega and Nintendo teaming up to make a Sonic game isn’t impossible, in fact most of Sonic’s games are on Nintendo platforms, but the story sounded like I story I would make up with my Sonic toys and play around back when I was like 8 or 9 and obsessed with all things Sonic.
Don’t get me wrong though, I can’t wait to see a new Sonic game for Wii U.

So he THINKS it’s a complete hoax. AND he laughs nervously… /twice/!

Dude’s hiding something. There’s definitely a new Sonic game in development.

  • theroonco

Don’t worry, SEGA loves to lie about these things. For example, they claimed they rumours about Generations were false, and we know how THAT turned out.

  • bob

That reminds me of Iwata asks.(laughs)

  • mustbepbs

I think he’s hiding something. Unless he was so tickled by the idea that people actually WANTED another Sonic game that he laughed in joy! I think it’s the latter. Probably shitting himself.
