The black version of the Wii U will (apparently) be available at launch

It’s not clear if the Wii U will be available in both colour variations — black and white — at launch. But according to a supposed email from a customer service representative at Nintendo, “the Wii U will be released in both Black and White”. To be safe, I wouldn’t take this as complete confirmation, but if you were hoping for the black Wii U at launch, this may give you an extra reason to remain hopeful.

    Since we’re talking about colors, I wonder if any other colors might be available at launch. . . Or at least in the launch window, just because a company doesn’t say anything about additional colors doesn’t mean they aren’t coming, I mean if that was true, we would have never gotten the Red or Blue Wii (even though I think the Blue Wii was just a Mini-Wii).

    n64′s main color is black. gamecube’s main color is indigo. wii’s main color is white… is wii u’s main color white or black?

      how about a big NOPE. main colors are always released on day 1 so its either white or black. electric blue hasn’t even been hinted at at all

      It’ll probably come further down the line. Anyways, theres nothing that says Nintendo has to choose between white and black for launch, they can put both out at one time.

      you dont understand what i mean…even if tht color does come out, it wont be a MAIN color…if only white comes on launch it makes it the wii u’s main color, but if both colors r launched which im not saying is impossible, which of the two is the main color?…ugh, just get out ice climbers, u dont get it

      I understand now. Purple is the GBC’s main color. Gray is the GB’s main color. 3DS… ok there isn’t one for that. I don’t think the Wii U will have a main color. Instead it will have 2 main colors (er… tones since black and white aren’t colors).

      no, there’s always one main… MAIN color lol 3ds’s main color is aqua blue, just because black was out on the release date doesnt mean it might be THE color, its aqua blue dude…main colors are usually the first ones to be seen for the platform, that’s why im thinking the wii u’s main color is gonna be white because that’s the color that was shown first

      and the 3ds xl’s main color is red…i know red and blue are pretty much equal, they were shown at the same time, and they havnt shown one more than the other, but the red version of the 3ds xl was the only color released in every region making it the 3ds xl’s main color…i put a lot of thought into this main color thing

      There can be two main colors. Aqua Blue 3DS was discontinued in Japan. DSi’s main colors are Blue and Black. They are equal. Wii U’s main colors are white and black. Doesn’t matter which was shown first. Plus, nowhere has it been confirmed that the white Wii U will be available at launch anyway. It could be just the black Wii U available at launch.

      even so, i still think aqua blue is the defining color of the 3ds…although the dsi launched with light blue and black colors in north america, every region before only got black and white colored dsi’s making light blue a color that was added later. for this reason, the dsi’s main color is black…if only the black wii u is available at launch(which i highly doubt it will be the only color available) then it will be the wii u’s main color, but until launch, ive decided that white is the wii u’s main color

    Wait, where was it confirmed that white would be available at launch? For all we know, white could come later, and black would be available at launch.

    I’ll get the black Wii U. My white Wii has a slight tint of pink on it somehow and I’m not even sure why.

    I have a question, I don’t know if it’s been addressed but here goes: let’s say I never got a Wii, do I really need to buy Wiimotes and Nunchuks to enjoy the whole Wii U experience? If it’s a yes then it sucks and I won’t get it, we complain Microsoft is greedy and stuff yet Nintendo would be falling under that category too.

      no you shouldn’t need them unless a game requires them.

      Plus, it would only be your fault for not buying a Wii. Future Zelda games on Wii U will require a Wiimote with Motion Plus and a Nunchuck. A Wiimote Plus will likely be included with the Wii U anyway.
