Star Fox

NintyChronicle recently interviewed Collin van Ginkel of Two Tribes, the company behind Toki Tori 2 for the Wii U. One of the questions asked was this:

Is there a company or franchise that you really want to work with someday, if given the opportunity?

The answer?

I think we could make a damn fine Star fox game for Wii U. Yes, a classic Star Fox game would be awesome to work on.

The Star Fox series is in the same boat as the Metroid series: neither have received a new game on the Wii U nor has a new game in either series been announced or hinted at by Nintendo. Retro Studios proved their worth with the Metroid series in the Metroid Prime series, and again with the Donkey Kong series in Donkey Kong Country Returns. Team Ninja was sadly brushed aside by many Metroid fans in their work with Metroid Other M (although many fans do like the gameplay itself).

So the question is, if given the opportunity, could Two Tribes develop a game in the Star Fox series that would be well-received like Retro Studios or would they make a game which would be tragically looked down upon by the fanbase? What do you think?

Two Tribes, the developers bringing Toki Tori 2 to the Wii U, have shared the above image to tease a new trailer for the game that’s set to be released next week. The object within the image is “an important aspect of the game’s storyline”, but “what it is exactly will only become clear when you play it yourself”. Still, feel free to make guesses in the comments.

Two Tribes has tweeted that they’ve “got something big Nintendo related to show off in the next few weeks”. What this “something big” could be is anyone’s guess, but they are bringing Toki Tori 2 to the Wii U, so maybe it’s linked to that? Or maybe even some other, Wii U-specific announcement.

Two Tribes, a development team that’s already bringing to Toki Tori 2 to the Wii U, is wondering if RUSH — their three-dimensional puzzle game — should be provided with the same fate. This wondering was shared via a tweet that read, “if we were to bring RUSH to Wii U, how would the controls work? So many options!” If you want to see the game on the platform, make sure to send them a tweet.

Two Tribes, the makers of Toki Tori 2 (which was confirmed for the Wii U) have asked their followers what they would like to see in the game. One follower said that they would like support for Steam Cloud. To this, the developers responded with:

Cross platform PC/Wii U saves! Wouldn’t that be nice ;)

And of course, it’s that winking-face at the end that makes it seem like the feature will be in the game, or is at least being thought about seriously.

Update: Unfortunately, Two Tribes has confirmed this was “nothing more” than a follower suggestion. So that’s a bummer.
