Oh noes, one of our first casualties! We heard that Metro: Last Light on the Wii U would not launch alongside the other versions of the game, but now Mark Madsen of THQ has said the game is not even in development.

The port could still happen and as they write the code for the game they are trying to “maximise” the amount of it to be compatible with the Wii U. For the time being though, the developers:

…really wanted to focus on what we knew, focus on PS3, 360 and PC.

And it’s a shame. I hope we see the project re-confirmed in the future. I’m doubtful though.

THQ has announced that Darksiders 2 has been delayed until the 20th of August. This was expected, but they did clarify that:

…the date was shifted to ensure we meet the high quality threshold that we are committed to achieving. It has nothing to do with any other platform releases.

So the Wii U isn’t to blame, and I very much doubt this offers any suggestion of the platform’s release date.

The expected release date for Darksiders 2 is June 26th. Or at least, it was. In a recent interview, Danny Bilson of THQ said that the company “honestly” can’t confirm the release date. Then, he said:

We haven’t announced anything… but the team is working really, really hard. We’re not going to ship it before it’s done.

And while a delay of a few weeks or months would probably not affect the release date of the Wii U version, it makes me wonder if a delay could be substantial enough that all versions launch alongside each other. That’d be a huge win for the version on the Wii U, and might even be something THQ would prefer. But we’ll have to wait and see, of course. As always.

Darksiders 2 and Metro: Last Light are coming to the Wii U, but as revealed on a LinkedIn page, THQ has two other secret titles in development for the platform. One is an exclusive for the Wii U, while the other is a multi-platform title. Both are set to arrive in 2012.

What do you think the games might be?
