Rayman Legends Wii U Small

Let’s face it, most of us weren’t exactly thrilled to hear about the delay of Rayman Legends earlier this year, but Ubisoft has tried their hardest to make it up to us. The company has brought and announced several other games to the Wii U since the delay, has revealed several Wii U exclusive Rayman Legends demos, and is actually putting in more content into the delayed game. So what do we have to look forward to now with Rayman?

Well, according to the Official Nintendo Magazine of the UK, we have 30 new levels and several new boss fights to look forward to in the final version of Rayman Legends. That’s a lot more content than what we would have gotten if the game would have been released on time. Although the game was delayed, at least the delay was used for something other than simply porting the game to other systems.

Rayman Legends 1

We have confirmation what the exclusive Wii U Rayman Legends demo, which Ubisoft promised Wii U owners in February, will be containing as well as when in April we will be receiving the demo. The demo will include four levels, one of which, Murfy’s Dungeon, is completely unique to the Wii U. The demo will also show off the online challenge mode which you can compete in daily and weekly challenges with. There are also leaderboards for each challenge.

There isn’t a specific date set besides late April, so hopefully we see it sooner than later.

Rayman Legends 6

To counter the despair we all received when Ubisoft announced the Rayman Legends delay and renege of Wii U exclusivity, Wii U owners will be receiving more than just a simple demo for the game. This time, Wii U owners will be receiving an exclusive and free release of Rayman Legends online Challenge Mode in April.

Creative director of the game, Michel Ancel, joined the senior game designer Michael Micholic for a Facebook video giving us more news on the delayed game. Furthermore, because of all the support the team has received from fans of series and Wii U owners upset of the delay, Micholic, said this:

We just wanted to reach out and let you know how truly humbled we were by the outpouring of support from the community and fans about the announcement of the delay of Rayman Legends. It definitely hurt us to see you guys so upset by the delay.

Ancel also added that they now have the ability to add more content such as characters, levels, and bosses to the game because of the delay. At least that means they’re not simple holding out the release of the Wii U version until it has finished development for other systems.

Content in the Challenge Mode include daily as well as weekly challenges, multi-player functions, an online leaderboard, and ghosts which you can download and try to defeat in various challenges.

Anyway, you can watch the full Facebook video after the break.

Rayman Legends 1

Last week, fans of the Rayman series and those who may have purchased the Wii U looking forward to the exclusive Wii U release of Rayman Legends were disappointed when Ubisoft announced that Rayman Legends was to be delayed and was no longer Wii U exclusive. However, like most good stories, there is a plot twist! What a twist!

In the above photo, you can see the creator of the Rayman franchise, Michel Ancel, along with fellow developers hold a picture of Rayman, mourning in the delay of his game, asking for the original release date for the Wii U. Although Ubisoft has yet to comment on this turn of events, it has most definitely caught the attention of fans. What Ubisoft will announce because of this is unclear at the present time, but it would be awesome to see Rayman Legends released for the Wii U on its original release date.

Rayman Legends 2

Rayman Legends has been delayed to be released in September and is no longer a Wii U exclusive game, but it’s not all bad news for Wii U owners. Ubisoft said the following on their Facebook page,

Thanks for all your feedback regarding Rayman Legends in all of its forms. We have heard you and we will continue to listen. We understand your frustration and that you want to get your hands on the game. We are working with the development team to provide you with a new, exclusive demo for the Wii U soon. Stay tuned for more.

Although Wii U owners may be upset over the swarm of bad news regarding Rayman Legends from Ubisoft, at least their is a silver lining. Whether or not Ubisoft can be trusted about their “exclusive demo” for the Wii U is up to the fans. Do you guys trust Ubisoft or should we be skeptical over their “exclusive demo” now that Rayman Legends is neither Wii U exclusive and has also been delayed?
