Zelda III think your pre-order page is two decades late, Wal-Mart.

Although Iwata confirmed a few games being developed for the Wii U back in January, Wal-Mart has gone ahead an placed some pre-order ads on their website. The list includes:

Mario 3D Wii U
Zelda 2 RPG Wii U
Shin Megami Tensei/Fire Emblem Wii U
Super Smash Bros. Wii U
Mario Kart Wii U
Deus Ex: Human Revolution Wii U

First off, Zelda 2 is a different listing than Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker HD, although both are supposedly coming to the Wii U, according to Wal-Mart. We do know that Nintendo is developing two Zelda games right now, however, the Zelda 2 listing also contains (RPG) which isn’t quite the right genre for most Zelda games (save the original Zelda II). Whether Wal-Mart has jumped the shark or Zelda 2 is getting a reboot for the Wii U, I’m not sure. It’s entirely possible it’s just a placeholder. Perhaps Mario 3D is the newest 3D Mario game in the series, and not simply a port of Super Mario 3D Land or something.

What do you think of these listings?

Japan

For readers who live in Japan, I have some good news: preorders for the system will begin at select retailers on the 6th of October. Even though these are “just” preorders though, and not the actual launch of the system, I’d suggest heading down to the store as early as possible. Back when I preordered the 3DS in Japan, there were huge lines and not everyone managed to secure a preorder.

Walmart has listed a new bundle to pick up the Wii U at launch. It contains the Wii U itself (either the “Basic” or “Deluxe” bundles), New Super Mario Bros. U, and a Wii Remote Plus. You can view the listing to see if it’s something you want to pick up.

Within just a couple of days, both the Basic and Premium bundles for the Wii U have sold out through Best Buy’s online store. I’m sure you could still find stock at many of the physical, retail locations, but if you were hoping to avoid straining those strange, long things stemming from your waist — also known as your “legs” — then you’re out of luck. You may just have to go to a store.

GameStop Logo

Visitors to GameStop have (apparently) been told that preorders for the Wii U begin on Thursday. According to what’s being said, it will cost $50 to secure the system, and the bundles themselves start at $250, and go up to $350. It’ll then become available “the week before Thanksgiving”.

The information ties in with everything else we’ve heard, so either people are just latching onto the rumours tighter than they should, or it’s all accurate. It’s not long until we find out the truth.

…and they’re not being subtle about it. Maybe during the launch week they’ll even set off some fireworks indoors or hire circus clowns to fill-in for the retail staff. I’d be down for that.

With preorders expected to start soon, GameStop is preparing for the Wii U. You can check after the break for photos from various retail locations throughout the United States. They’re also focused on the black version of the console, which is interesting. Maybe it will be available at launch.
