Oh noes, one of our first casualties! We heard that Metro: Last Light on the Wii U would not launch alongside the other versions of the game, but now Mark Madsen of THQ has said the game is not even in development.

The port could still happen and as they write the code for the game they are trying to “maximise” the amount of it to be compatible with the Wii U. For the time being though, the developers:

…really wanted to focus on what we knew, focus on PS3, 360 and PC.

And it’s a shame. I hope we see the project re-confirmed in the future. I’m doubtful though.

Huw Beynon of THQ has confirmed that while they have “been working on the Wii U version” of Metro: Last Light, they’re:

…focusing on current-gen or existing platforms and PC, so it’s unlikely that the Wii U verson will come out at the same time as those formats.

And I’m thinking this will be an (unfortunately) common-thread during E3 2012. A lot of cool, third-party announcements, but also release dates that are further back than we’d like.
