Warren Spector has revealed the existence of Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two and also that the game is a musical. According to Spector, the characters break into song on “a regular basis”, so there should be plenty of singing and dancing, making this is all kinds of awesome. But there is a problem. As far as we can tell, it’s not coming to the Wii U. It’s set for release on the Wii, Xbox 360, and PS3 in the Fall, but there’s no mention of the Wii U. I’ll remain hopeful that maybe they’re leaving that announcement for E3 though.

Update: You can check after the break for an off-screen shot of what the game looks like.

There’s a promo for the next episode of GameTrailers TV after the break (which is where Warren Spector’s next project will be shown for the first time), and it’s packed with very clear suggestions that Epic Mickey 2 will be unveiled. What’s a little more out of left-field is that there may be a companion game on the 3DS. And that makes me wonder, if there is a Wii U version, will it connect with the 3DS? Time will tell, I guess.

Warren Spector has said that “we have over 700 people around the world working on our new game now”. And that new game, if all the teasing is to be believed, is Epic Mickey 2. To compare, the original game “only” had a team of 180 people, so they’ve definitely upped the energy being driven into the new project. Hopefully we’ll see how well its paid off when the first trailer and gameplay footage is released next week.

We’re near-positive that Epic Mickey 2 will be announced next week, and we’re thinking it will be announced for the Wii U, and a new interview with Warren Spector is only making it seem all-the-more guaranteed. He has said that, “hypothetically” if there is a sequel to Epic Mickey, “the time would be right to get the game on other platforms”. He believes it should be on more than the Wii and specifically mentions the 360 and the PS3. And, if it was on those platforms (which is a rumour we’ve heard), it’d be easy enough to bring it to the Wii U.

Spector also says he would probably add a co-op feature in the game, and address the major concerns from the first game such as the camera system. The lack of voice-work in the first game “was a mistake”, and full voice support would be added in the sequel.

Hypothetically.

There have been multiple, strong suggestions that Epic Mickey 2 will be announced before the end of the month, and there is reason to believe it will be coming to the Wii U. And, if that wasn’t enough, GameTrailers is promoting their next episode of GameTrailers TV as a “blowout of rather large proportions”, the last part of that title being too synonymous with the word “epic” to ignore. Then, the full episode description states:

…will have the world exclusive reveal trailer and first gameplay anywhere of Warren Spector’s next yet-to-be-announced game. It’s going to be …notably significant.

And those last two words – “notably significant” – seem to make it clear: Epic Mickey 2 will be unveiled next week. As for whether it is on the Wii U though, we’ll have to wait and see.

A new, supposedly “epic” project from Warren Spector is being teased to members of the press. Given the choice of the word “epic”, and the fact that we’ve heard about it in the past, I think it’s safe to have a strong hunch this new project will be Epic Mickey 2. And as we have heard, we can expect it on the Wii U.

There is a rumor that Junction Point is “implementing Wii U support for Epic Mickey 2″, but that’s as far as the rumor goes. It’s one of those situations though that, given that it’s coming to 360 and PS3, it wouldn’t be surprising to bring it to the Wii U.
