THQ has confirmed that Darksiders 2 will be launch alongside the Wii U on the 18th of November in North America. This version of the game will include:

…the first DLC expansion, Argul’s Tomb, as well as all pre-order bonuses from other editions, adding around five hours of playable content and new legendary weapons and armor.

…and features the following GamePad functionality:

…the touch screen to display map and objectives as well as giving quick access to abilities and Death’s inventory. The Wii U system’s gyro functionality will also be utilized to allow players to evade enemy attacks, manipulate objects in the world and steer their character during swimming and riding sequences.

It’s also all kind of wonderful that the developers at Vigil Games can start sharing more of their enthusiasm about the platform. They’ve been dying to talk about it these past few weeks.

Haydn Dalton, the lead designer of Darksiders 2, has expressed frustration that they’re not allowed to talk about Darksiders 2 on the Wii U:

It’s awkward because when people ask questions about [Wii U] we’ve got to skirt around the answer. We obviously want them to come out with it because then we can just talk openly about the game. I’d rather just be open with people than spinning the answer back at somebody. As soon as they just come out and everything’s revealed it would take a little bit of weight off us as developers so we can be a little bit more open about the product.

And it is a pity. Nintendo’s probably saving it all for September 13th though.
