It was revealed by Capcom on the first day of PAX East that DakeTales Remastered, developed by WayForward Technologies, would be coming to the Wii U eShop, as well as the Playstation Network and XBox Live Arcade, this Summer. The game will cost $15 on the Wii U eShop.

All character sprites are hand-drawn while the world around you is in 3D. In addition, Disney voice actors have joined development as well. The songs in the original game have been remastered as well.

In regards to the game, Capcom’s Rey Jimenez had this to say:

We’re literally pouring our heart and soul into this title. It’s going to play just like you remember.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate 8

Capcom has confirmed that the Wii U version of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate will be playable at New York Comic Con. If you want to spend some time with the Wii U, and that game in particular, it’s probably worth checking out their booth.

Christian Svensson of Capcom has confirmed the company has “other projects in the works” aside from Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate. Unfortunately, there’s no further details at this point. Whatever the projects are though, I’m assuming they’re not going to be released in the next six months or so.

Famitsu is reporting that, in regards to Monster Hunter Frontier, “Capcom is looking positively at the possibility of bringing the game to other platforms”. As far as “other platforms” are concerned, the Wii U would be a great fit. The game is already on the PC and Xbox 360, too, so there’s not many platforms to choose from.

Is the Wii U a true “next generation” console? According to Capcom, it’s not:

…although Nintendo will release the new game console Wii U and the market will be continue to be invigorated by the increase of DLC, time is required before the next generation console cycle begins in earnest.

They must still be stuck in the mindset of raw power being the only determining factor. Pity.

At the moment, Capcom is working on Remember Me for the Xbox 360 and PS3. It’s an action-adventure title that almost came to the Wii U, as noted by Christian Svensson:

…this project was started many years ago, long before WiiU was even a twinkle in Nintendo’s eye. We explored the idea of adding a SKU, but in the name of keeping the team focused and not adding dev tasks for the team to get up to speed on new hardware and time to the schedule, we’ve opted to keep it on the original platforms for which it was planned.

It’s a shame it didn’t make the leap though. A few of the screenshots gave me a Bladerunner-ish vibe, and there’s few things that are better than that sort of vibe.
