It’s not clear what control schemes will be available in Smash Bros. on the Wii U, but Masahiro Sakurai — the director of the game — has said that:

The GameCube controller is not the only way to control Smash Bros., so we will look into ways that fits the Wii U.

This seems like the sort of title that will have all sorts of options for controlling the game. The tablet controller will surely be put to full use, but I think there’ll be options to suit all playing styles.

So how are we gonna use our GC controllers?

    • KidWiththeBackpack

My thoughts exactly, lol. But there’s still that Wii U Pro (think that’s what it’s called?) controller that might work just as well. I guess we will wait and see…

Maybe those pins at the bottom of the controller would serve 4 game cube ports

    • Tails the Foxhound

You’re not. Use a pro or a Gamepad, almost the same layout.

I really hope they’ll release an attachment for the Wii Remote that’ll support Gamecube controllers, or some kind of multitap via USB.

Bro, Gamecube Nintendo controllers are essentially flat-out banned from being produced or sold – due to the loss they suffered in court from a company called Anascape, because they sued about a patent. They just have to move on to another controller, and the Gamecube controllers were far from perfect.

“GameCube controllers were far from perfect”
      This comment is a lie.

Like Nintendo would make a controller look like someone else’s

The lawsuit was on the Classic Controller/ Pro, but Nintendo settled an agreement with the other company outside of court

this is why the government is freaking stupid. im going to freaking patent eating cereal with a spoon someday. i cant wait until this earth actually grows up and fills with smart people. almost nothing should ever be patented, except for things like yugiohs card game play style, or something that actually makes sense besides adding buttons to a piece of plastic.

    control using 3DS??? TOTAL EPICNESS!

  • Tails the Foxhound

I’ll probably keep on using Wii + Chuck combo unless using the Gamepad feels really awesome. Still hope Sonic stays in, I’ve been getting good with him lately.

      Brawl: 3480-2220-5574

    • greg12302

Its a chat we use it since brawl has no voice chat or anything like that dont worry much about the things on the bottom just put your name in where it says name and a message where it says message

    • Nintyfan10

      Wii U Pro Controller…

    • Tails the Foxhound

You’re suggesting I use that? I could probably only use Kirby with that since I used him in Melee. I’m sure my Sonic, Wolf, Lucas and Peach would only suffer since my muscle memory is mapped to Wii + Chuck for those characters.

    • MelonBlade

If there were any guest characters, they’d probably be either Pac-Man or a Tales character, being co-developed by Namco and all. For a guest, I want to see Lloyd from Tales of Symphonia. Smash has never had a dual-wield character before.

    • DarkraiLv1000

You can technically call Pit a dual-wield character. xD

  • boyonthemoon

wii u pro controller is what im gonna use… every, time

    • MadCrain

      Ditto!

  • Giro Reaper

Nintendo already said it won’t play gamecube games so probably no ports for the gamecube controllers. I’m pretty sure you will be able to download gamecube games though
