Retro Studios Old Building

Retro Studios — who are working something for the Wii U — has moved into a new office, leaving their old building (pictured above) behind. The logical conclusion, me thinks, is that they’re expanding to either work on more, or at least bigger projects. They were hiring new people recently, so they do appear to be in a state of growth. It could still take until E3 before we hear about their project though.

  • Wolf

Retro Studios is my favorite developer, I’ll be following this closely.

  • RockieOllie

    What?
    Retro Studios is evolving!

    • EddKupo

      Nobody press B. :U

    • Szayel

      LOL

    • Hybrilynx

hmm i see a chain link here. YUGIOH!!

  • I’m excited for you

Starfox : Unite (Union), Metroid U. Smash Bros. Universe and some others are games i’m excited for.

    • Marty

retro has nothing to do with the next smash bros. And names are last in game development so you know…

    • HBOVER9000

Only they’re usually responsible for are the Metroid related stuff, at least in Brawl I think it was that.

    • Marty

they used prime models for trophies in brawl. That was really it

    • I’m Excited for you.

I didn’t say anything about Retro. I just was saying what i’m excited about for on the Wii U.

    • Marty

It wouldn’t be the first time I misunderstood something, sorry :P.But you know It is a page about speculating what retro is working on in there new office.

  • DSquared

Oh Star Fox … PLEASE be Star Fox!

  • Marty

    Bigger team better game.

  • Bicentennial_Pidgeon

    METROID

  • ABEzilla116

This is definitely some good news.

  • YayGs

Or their old place had mice :D

    • King Boo

We don’t have any mice in Texas, we’ve got rats.

  • BigRedBro

I personally dont like Retro´s work…the only game of Retro I liked was Metroid Prime (first one only), the rest (like Donkey Kong CR) I felt needed more work. I hope this change is just what Retro need to make its games more full, explosive and awsome!(new IP would be awsome…Retro needs to not depend “too” much on Nintendo´s proper IP)

    • Wolf

Well, that’s just like your opinion, man.

    • bigredbro

      well, yeah!…I wasn’t expecting anything.

    • captain obvious

I personally think you’re just being contrairian.

    • BigRedBro

NoI just think Retro can do much much better and now has the potential to do so.

  • xdlugia

If this means a huge open world Metroid Prime, then I’m in!

    • I’m not excited for you

      Metroid 4v4 Online

  • BOO

My guesses are that Nintendo bought the Banjo Kazooie ip and retro is working on a true successor to Banjo Tooie. Or their working on a Pokemon MMORPG and/or Earthbound game.

    • Wolf

I think we would know about it if Nintendo bought that IP.

    • BOO

They’ll probably make a huge announcement at E3. Nintendo has always had their eye on the Banjo Kazooie franchise.

    • iwouldliketoseethat

I guess Retro (with Rare’s old members moving to RARE) would work. i would like to see that.

    • BOO

I also heard retro got people from Naughty Dog (who’ve worked on the Jak and Daxter series), to work on this secret project. This makes me believe that Nintendo is working on a new Banjo Kazooie game.

  • IkeFE

    F-Zero Unlimited
    Star Fox: United
    Pokemon Snap U

    • Joshua

      “Pokemon Snap U”
Sounds quite frightening if you ask me. :(

  • Wii U

if anybody wants to play wii u soon best buy will have wii u demos on the 17th

  • http://www.facebook.com/tony.lane.35 Tony Lane

I cannot wait to see Retro Studios develop new Wii U titles as well as their rumored graphics engine.

I want a remake of “Doki Doki Panic…” I trust no one but Retro!

  • josh

I think they may be working on a new F Zero. Just a feeling in my bones…

  • http://PolyKhromeGames.blogspot.com/ Brian Lockett

This can only be a good thing. A very good thing.

If they are moving for a bigger space: Larger space = More people = Bigger games. Hopefully.

  • MajoraQuest

    Majoras Mask U!

  • Kairos

Dont worry if u press B just level it up one more time :D.

  • BellaKazza

Retro Studios is making a profit and so they are expanding to give more work to new employees.
It’s always good when a company expands.

  • iLoveNintendoFlo

Thay are deffently working on soming epic and its so exsiding i gess we will see it at E3 2013. It nice to kown thay are hiring new talint as well. Maby thay will add new ideas. :) :D ;)

  • MadCrain

Oooh Retro, I thought for moment it said Rare, I was asking myself why this would be news xD That’s awesome!!

  • LaLaLa

    Is it still in Texas?

  • King Boo

My logical conclusion, they’ve gone from 4 gig 480p games to 25 gig 1080p games. I would assume, just like for everyone else, development time has gone up considerably so they need more people.

  • Tails the Foxhound

Nintendo: Now make my Retro grow!!! *Throws a staff into the ground.*

  • StarTropics

They’re changing their name to Nintendo EAD USA

Of course I’m kidding Retro Studios is a good name. This new studio is a very nice size so they’ll have a bigger space for Motion Capture than they used to. This also means more employees for bigger projects or multiple teams for different projects.

Anyway when is Nintendo going to buy Monster Games?

    • StarTropics

But how do we know Retro has the whole building? They cold just have one suite in the building

  • Noah

They can take all the time they want with Metroid, as long as it comes out tomorrow.
