Rayman Legends Delayed but has an Exclusive Wii U Demo Coming

Rayman Legends has been delayed to be released in September and is no longer a Wii U exclusive game, but it’s not all bad news for Wii U owners. Ubisoft said the following on their Facebook page,

Thanks for all your feedback regarding Rayman Legends in all of its forms. We have heard you and we will continue to listen. We understand your frustration and that you want to get your hands on the game. We are working with the development team to provide you with a new, exclusive demo for the Wii U soon. Stay tuned for more.

Although Wii U owners may be upset over the swarm of bad news regarding Rayman Legends from Ubisoft, at least their is a silver lining. Whether or not Ubisoft can be trusted about their “exclusive demo” for the Wii U is up to the fans. Do you guys trust Ubisoft or should we be skeptical over their “exclusive demo” now that Rayman Legends is neither Wii U exclusive and has also been delayed?

      Yeah, it is, unless it’s only available in Europe. I’ve played it like 5 times, it was the only reason I was excited for the game, I don’t see how it would work on another console though. The Wii U features were what made it so cool.

      Ported versions will play like Rayman Origins so it’s basically downgraded

    September… they’re releasing against Grand Theft Auto V. The developers, for some reason, think this game has enough… of anything… to compete with GTA V

    I’m not sure whether to laugh or lament.

      Not the developers, higher ups at Ubisoft do. The dev team let out a statement saying they didn’t expect this and are even pissed off over all the amount of overtime they put into the game to make sure it was released this month.

    No offense to the hardworking developers, who were also mistreated by the publishers, but when this game went multiplatform and late 2013, it left my radar. This is probably just a reflection of how privileged I feel as a gamer, but it’s my money and as mentioned here, GTAV owns September, and Pokemon X/Y October. By the time those are done, Rayman Legends will be so far from relevant it won’t even make my huge backlog of budget-buy must-finish games. But I’m sure it will sell better now there is a simultaneous release to include two platforms relatively uninterested in quirky childish side-scroll platform games.

      Dont forget there’s a giant chance we’ll get Yarn Yoshi, since they decided to announce it super early, if it wasnt they probably would of just announced it at E3. And your entirerly correct, This game will get crushed, and Xbox and PS3 people wont care about this game at all. The DEV’s seem like REALLY cool people, working thier arses off, all for it to be delayed by the stupid company’s idea. Great Job Ubisoft, You’ve really ruined rayman legends. Wasnt its febuary release a delay anyway? Holy crap, thats quite strange.

      That’s pretty naive of you to think that GTA V will substancially affect the sales of an entirely different game. And where did you get the idea that the two other platforms aren’t interested in “quirky childish” (what makes it childish?) side-scrollers? The previous installments sold very well on these platforms, so your statement isn’t true at all.

    I still don’t understand why they’re delaying it. They could just release it when they promised to for us Nintendo gamers and then release it for the newfag Sony/MS fanboys later in the year simple as.

      apparently there´s an xbox policy that no one can release a multy-platform game that was released first on other console, so in order to sell it on xbox they have to hold the wii u release, it´s still a douchebag move

      The realization of the U’s sales make the user base for sales really poor. I don’t blame them for trying to make a profit by expanding the availability of their game. Had Nintendo not asked them to delay the game in the first place in order to sell more mario games at lauch(to recoup console losses) UBI might have made a decent enough profit last year and not seen a reason to break exclusivity. As it stands, the U’s current game lineup is pretty lame and sales are showing it.

    They will release just in time for it to be pushed aside by the next Xbox, Halo 5, PS4, a new Mario game, some yet to be announced games, and even Call of Duty. Not a good idea.

    I’m fine with this. A little disappointed it will be so long, sure. But I’ve never really liked Grand Theft Auto all that much myself, and I promised myself White would be my last Pokemon game. So this at least gives me something to look forward to playing in the later half of the year. :D

    What really sucks, imo, is the fact that the game is already finished for Wii U and that the dev team worked really hard on it for the past few months to get it out in Feb., and now Ubisoft just delays it til September out of nowhere. It’s not fair. :<

    Well, the fact that it’s coming to Sony and Microsoft doesnt upset me. But what does get me riled up is the fact that they had to delay our version as well just so everyone could get it at the same time. I don’t think that was fair. They should have just released ours and kept working on their version. I will probably still buy this game once it comes out but only if it has even more content than it orignially planned to. Point blank.

    LMFAO!!!it cracks me up how people say wii u is a flop, it has already sold 3 million in 2 months on the market!!the ps vita has only sold 4 million in 16 months on the market!!!
    The 3ds was the same no games for 6 months and look at it now sold nearly 30 million in under 2 years!!!
    Delaying rayman legends when the wii u version is complete is pathetic but ubisoft wont release it incase it gets bad reviews which will put people off the ps3 and xbox versions.
    But seriously to release it in september to go up against GTA5, is commercial suicide!!
    Also a demo was relased for wii u a few months back you only release demos if the game is nearly complete,for ubisoft to say the delay was due to ps3 and xbox fans bitchin,and to say to wii u owners here is a new demo but the game still comes out in september is hillarious!!!
    After the abysmal zombie u and 3ds launch titles and this u turn nintendo needs to get rid of ubisoft and fast!!they nned to create new games themselves and screw 3rd party,everyone ninty fan knows that mario,zelda and mario kart sell millions of millions and why nintendo has lasted so long!!!

    The demo doesn’t matter. We were supposed to get the ENTIRE game exclusively in a couple weeks, and we still could, since it’s done. There’s no excuse for the delay. Getting a free sample won’t even begin to make up for any of this trash. Ubisoft has lost all credibility with me, sinking down to the depths of EA.

    So, let me get this straight. The Wii U gets plenty of multiplatform titles months, if not a year after their initial release, to a market that’s probably uninterested because if they wanted those games, they probably already had an Xbox 360 or a PS3. (Or both.) Then, there’s a cool-looking game that is clearly based around the Wii U, and really makes sense for the Wii U’s market, and… they delay it for a simultaneous release. If it wasn’t insulting enough that they made a Wii U-based game a multiplatform, AND it wasn’t insulting enough that they delayed it just to keep the release simultaneous, there’s the fact that NO ONE did this for the initial release of the Wii U to keep those releases simultaneous. Thanks, Ubisoft. I’m just so glad a shovelware-filled company like you was Nintendo’s biggest partner for the Wii U.

    Lol, good luck with sales. GTA, Pokemon, PS4 this year (maybe), and the biggest releases come out September-November, lol. Rayman is liked but not thaaaat liked, not enough to be beating the sales of those and other huge titles that may be coming.

    I hope Nintendo drops a first party title the same week or month Ubisoft releases this. I was not that big of a Rayman fan. I do own all the game systems, but meh. I wanted this for my Wii U (especially for that one stage with the drums and rock music–that kind of gameplay), and the longer it is delayed, the more I just don’t care about it. I would had gotten it at launch, maybe if it was not delayed to September, but yeah, by September, there are other games, and any interest I had for Rayman will go away.

    Next time, don’t make promises you cannot keep or say stuff you do not know, how this was a Wii U exclusive and is not fit for other platforms.

    anyway, I didn´t really care for rayman legends before, platform games haven´t appealed to me for a while. But this is a slap in the face for nintendo players and dev team. They should have just released the stupid game so microsoft will beg for it later (they won´t let them port the game if it was released first in another console)

    No one will probably buy Legends on PS3/360 anyways unless they REALLY want to use a Vita or SmartGlass for Murphy levels. Well, I will just wait for 3D Mario, which will probably come out shortly after.

    On top of Rayman Legends, Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge is being ported to the PS3/360, despite being published by Nintendo.

    Now I’m sure some of you might be worried that Platinum Games would follow suit and port Wonderful 101 and Bayonetta 2, but you can all sigh in relief as Platinum has said that because Nintendo provided the funds for both games, it will be up to Nintendo to decide to port them. So unless Nintendo says that they want the games to come out on PS3/360, both games will stay as Wii U exclusives, and obviously that will never happen.

      Ninja Gaiden 3 was only published by Nintendo in the US and in Europe. Koei published it in Japan. That is why its being ported. If Nintendo had published it in Japan then it would be a different story.

    can’t say I blame them for not being exclusive to the Wii U. I don’t think Nintendo has any 3rd party companies that are loyal. Not like Naughty Dog to Sony and Bungie to Microsoft. You don’t have to do much math to figure that Ubishaft wants a much wider install base. Too bad they don’t think it’s going to hurt them in the long run. I guess they feel that the game is so good that everyone will forget what they did. There were much better ways to release this game to where most people would have been satisfied. But this is just like sweeping the bad leg in Karate Kid. Join in on the doomsayers and maybe win their business. These kinds of practices never work. My opinion is that this game is going to fail and Ubisoft will have themselves to blame for it. Hopefully the game designers that strongly disagree with the money hungry execs will start looking for a better company to work for…

    Sadly, it kind of makes sense. The first in this new 2D Rayman series (Origins) didn’t do too great, despite being an excellent game. It only managed to sell somewhere just over 2 million copies overall (between all the platforms- 3DS, Wii, Vita, PS3, Xbox 360, PC- so if each platform had the same amount of sales, then that’s only 333,333 copies sold per console). The Wii U doesn’t have a huge install base either, so there’s a huge possibility they might have taken heavy losses keeping it exclusive.

    I don’t mind that Rayman Legends is no longer an exclusive, while I know the WiiU is been out for a few months and there would be a small base so far, but it would’ve helped it out. Yet delaying a nearly completed game for 7 months where heavy hitters like GTAV are expected to launch is very asinine!

    Their solution is like applying a bandaid on a broken arm.

    Sad thing is, I was never a Rayman fan until I played this game as a demo long before the U released.

    I’ll get this game out of respect for the devs who worked so hard on the game, however, I’ve lost a great amount of respect for the company because that’s insulting.
