Nintendo announced today that they will not be conducting a single, major conference at E3 this year, citing part of the reason on their recent success with the Nintendo Direct broadcasts. Instead, they will be doing several, smaller events.

Nintendo Direct broadcasts have been awesome, and many people hype up for each one. Perhaps this make sense.

Satoru Iwata Holds Wii U

It was revealed today that Satoru Iwata, President and CEO of Nintendo, is replacing Tatsumi Kimishima, who will now be the general manager of Nintendo. Don’t worry, our buddy Reggie Fils-Aime will be remaining in his current position.

The reason for the move is for “organisational agility” within the entire company and pick up slacking foreign sales for the company.

As many of you may know, I’m currently hosting a $50,000 charity stream for Charity Water, featuring many guests such as Marriland, TheJWittz, and MunchingOrange. Because of this event, I will be unable to post as frequently this week as normal. I’ll still be posting news, but it may not be as fast or often as I hope. I may ask David to post a few times this week since I will be busy with the charity event.

I hope you understand and I really look forward to posting as much as possible soon.

You can find more information about the charity stream after the break:

Nintendo Wii U Console Hardware System Side

If you have Minecraft, congratulations, you are one of the 10,000,000+ people to have bought the game. However, you are no doubt 0/0 to own the game on the Wii U. Although Minecraft originated on the PC, the Wii U does not have Minecraft while the XBox 360 does.

Think of the possibilities. With the Gamepad, inventory management would be simple and you’d even have your TV clear for gameplay. If you could use the Gamepad to design where you’d like to place your blocks on a grid, that’d be even better! There are a few unique features on the XBox 360 version of the game (such as the Enderdragon spewing acid and blew flowers) so perhaps the Wii U would get some interesting features as well (granted, blue flowers aren’t exactly amazing).

Let us know what you think in the comments!

This is it guys. The reason why I was unable to post in the early days: The Elite Four: Charity Water. From April 22nd though April 29th, I’m hosting a seven-day live stream featuring over forty other Pokémon gamers to raise $50,000 for Charity Water. The stream will be broken into three-hour shifts (the full schedule of which can be found here), and even if you can’t donate, spreading the word and checking us out will do wonders for the proejct.

We’re still a few days from the start of the stream, and David and I will surely post about it here closer to its actual starting time, but just in case you want to prepare, here are the important links:

It’s a shame David won’t’t be featured in the stream (maybe he’ll make a video to appear in the stream anyway?), but you can check out the full list of people who will be featured after the break:

Recently, the fine folks over at Silconera asked Pandora’s Tower developer Toru Haga, of Ganbarion, his thoughts on the Wii U, to which Haga replied:

The Wii U is a unique console with exciting features such as the GamePad. We’re currently thinking of fun ideas using these features. For example, we’re thinking of a gameplay idea that uses two screens from different perspectives, like a tabletop RPG, where players could potentially give each other objectives and progress through the game. Or like with Miiverse, where players can share their gameplay experiences easily, we were thinking of a game that focuses on communication.

But regardless of any ideas that we could potentially realize, as a developer we need to focus on how welcoming it is to the players. We took this approach when we were originally only going to use one Wii Remote for Pandora’s Tower. As a developer, we are very interested in challenging ourselves with new hardware, and we hope that everyone will look forward to our next project.

Would you like to see a game from Ganbarion made on the Wii U?
