This press release has been floating around. It states that the Wii U is “99% likely to go on sale in the UK for a sub-£250 Recommended Retail Price”. Of course, the more interesting story would be if this was somehow based on an actual source of information, but it’s not. The press release is from someone trying to market their site, but it blurs speculation into something more than speculation.

I won’t be surprised if the Wii U does cost less than £250. Just be wary of the way language is used. This story got a lot of air time and for no particular reason.

  • LaLaLa

speaking of price, I think 150 is reasonable. remember how they lost money over the 3ds’s price of $240?

    • Tails the Foxhound

Nah, even that’s too high, they should just give one for free to everyone who bought the original Wii. (amIdoinitright?)

“This story got a lot of air time and for no particular reason.”

    - Because sites like this one have no hesitation to post news stories based on obscurely sourced rumours and speculation?

  • donicx

Who knows how much it will be but by the time they announce the price ill be ready right now i only have $280.00 so ill keep saving up money until they announce the price.

  • DanDroid

I’d buy at launch if the price range was around 400 bucks, got $420.50 but seeing as I’ll be buying the 3DS XL I still got some saving to do.

    • FLUDD

$400 would be way too high of a price unless it came with like two game pads and Nintendoland..

  • Vulpix

I say 350$ I won’t be the one buying the system I’ll be getting it for either my b-day or Christmas but I don’t want to put a hole in someones wallet either besides less it is the more games I can buy.

  • FLUDD

    That’s about $300 USD

the gamepad well sell most likely for 80$ but probably cost 50-60$ to make, so 50$ is the controller its self, it well most likely come with nintendoland, and to pay for royalties it well be 15$ from every game system sale. then the system is made of better, BUT not a big step up in hardware but it well have to be better just to keep 4 wii remotes, and also up to 2 gamepads going at the same time. SO 300$ is the bottom line, and 350 is the more likely option. meaning the system well be around 280$ then add the price of the controller and nintendoland…350$
