Nintendo has confirmed that folks who purchase the Deluxe version of the Wii U — which comes in at $349.99 — will “earn points with a value equivalent to approximately 10 percent of the Nintendo eShop list price of each purchase.” So, “a game priced at $59.99, such as New Super Mario Bros. U, would earn 599 points”, which is worth close to $6. The promotion begins in December and lasts until December 31st, 2014.

  • Ice Climbers

Note: These points you get can be redeemed for eShop cash that is usable on either the Wii U or the 3DS. So, if you buy 7 Wii U games off the Wii U eShop, you get 4193 points (599 points each), which is $41.93 in eShop cash, meaning you get a free 3DS game.

    • Kaizar

I’m even more excited about the Premium Wii U I’m getting in Q1 2013.

Lugi’s Mansion Dark Moon will be a great game to get for free.

      SHABLAGOO!

    • Ice Climbers

You’d have to get 7 retail Wii U games off of the Wii U eShop first though, which is about $420 not including tax.

    • Tails the Foxhound

7 games over the course of a year is like half my yearly intake, lol.

  • Fwiller

das a pretty big deal! o:

  • Ziggy

I thought they Will introduce the thing 2014, but why does it end?

    • Kaizar

Because, they are only doing this promotion to get people to use the Wii U eShop in every way.

Scott Moffit explained it as I posted in my other comment here.

      WE THE BEST!

    • Ziggy

Thanks, it’s just my comment came way before yours

  • Ice Climbers

Oh, and you can start getting points on your digital purchases from day 1 on November 18. However, you can’t redeem the points for eShop cash until December.

  • Kaizar

    Here’s the full Explaination/quote:

All Wii U Deluxe Set owners who purchase digital content for Wii U, including downloadable games in the Nintendo eShop for Wii U and download codes sold at select retail stores, will earn points with a value equivalent to approximately 10 percent of the Nintendo eShop list price of each purchase. For example, a game priced at $59.99, such as New Super Mario Bros. U, would earn 599 points. For every 500 points they earn, participants will receive a code worth $5 in credit to be used in the Nintendo eShop for either Wii U or Nintendo 3DS. Points will be earned on all digital purchases made on a Wii U Deluxe Set from Nov. 18, 2012, until Dec. 31, 2014. When the Deluxe Digital Promotion website launches in December, participants can see the points they’ve earned and receive codes for Nintendo eShop credit by signing in with their Nintendo Network ID and password. Codes must be received at the website by March 31, 2015. Received codes must be exchanged for Nintendo eShop credit on Wii U or Nintendo 3DS by June 30, 2015. Nintendo eShop credit on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS does not expire.

“From day one, we want Wii U owners to experience the full breadth of great downloadable games and content available for the console,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “The Deluxe Digital Promotion is our way of encouraging Wii U Deluxe Set owners to explore the Nintendo eShop and discover how Wii U offers an incredible combination of fun, innovation, convenience and value.”

Here’s some more U News, LOL:

During a recent Q&A session with investors, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has said the company is considering offering its Nintendo TVii service in Europe and Japan.

“We are currently considering offering Nintendo TVii in Japan and Europe by taking into account how people watch television in each region, and I believe I will be able to share more details in the not-so-distant future.”

“In this sense, many partners, including third-party publishers and non-gaming partners, as exemplified by VOD service providers, are seeing a lot of potential in Wii U, especially because it can also be used freely in the living room even if the TV is in use, and there are many possibilities, such as a shopping service or some other service that uses the internet.”

Are the $5 credits discrete or do they pool? If they don’t pool, can multiple $5s be used for one purchase?

I can’t tell exactly from the explanation but it almost sounds like the max you can actually USE on one purchase is only $5. So if I bought three Wii U games at $60, I’d get 1797 points, which would be turned into three $5 credits (with a remainder of 297 points that would be unusable until I made another Wii U purchase). But then I can only turn around and use one $5 credit on a purchase, not all three ($15) on the same purchase.

I hope that’s not how it works, it’s just not clear from the description. Money is no object to me personally (two strong incomes, healthy, no kids, no debt) but I know it is for most people and parents, so I hope this works.

    • Kaizar

It saying that they only give you $5 every 500 points, but it all adds up to one net worth amount, like a couple of eShop cards adds up to $40 net worth amount.

So think of it as adding multiple eShop gift cards to your eShop account, except it’s an additional $5 each instead of $20 each.

So if you buy a $2.99 3D game, you will lose $2.99 of your total eShop credit.

So just think of it as the eShop gift cards you can buy in any GameStop.

      Sounds good, thanks!

      Nice Venture Brothers reference.

    • Kaizar

I still can’t wait for Season 5 & 6 of the Ventrue Brothers…….and to a lesser extinct, the 10 all-new episodes of Arrested Development, which premieres on Netflix first.

  • ABEzilla116

hmm. Doesn’t sound bad. I wonder if NSMB U will be available for download day one.

  • Zok

Dang. Do I buy from the Wii U eShop and get the bonus promotion and have no physical copy or do I buy a physical copy and get no bonus. Decisions. Either way though, the deluxe bundle is calling my name.

  • boyonthemoon

    >:( damn preorders are sold out, i won’t get the console in time and be screwed…. FFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!

i beaten that game a long time ago. i have all the rooms cleared too as far as i know, so im just guessing to get 100% all items i need to find denpa men who gives me items. besides trying to get all items, i beaten the game weeks ago. which reminds me, night sky sucked. dont get it. im pretty sure im going to rate it 1. but if not, then 2 stars max. after i beat it the 2nd time though. meaning the first time was a easy mode, my 2nd time is a harder mode.

    • Kaizar

Thanks for telling Mii, I thought Night Sky would suck, but now I know not to waste my time nor money for sure.

Now we just have to wait for the Fire Emblem Awakening Puzzle Panel for Puzzle Swap in the StreetPass Mii Plaza to be able to access it from our non-Japanese 3DS.

I have only completed 1 3D rotating image, even though I have collected over 360 puzzle pieces out of the current 465 available (I already got all the Pink pieces for a long time now)……so I’m glad that we don’t have access to it yet for another month or 2.

  • Kuro-puppy

I can get Retail games from webshops for like 45 bucks instead of 60 (talking about PS3, don’t know if WiiU will be the same) so that’s not really a good deal. Rather have both the money and the box. Although the download cards at stores could mean the difference will be smaller albeit unlikely (the Mario bros 2 download cards are MORE expensive in Japan then the retail version, money grubbers….), but a guy can hope.
But getting some money back from the games that are only digital download is very nice ^_^

    • Kaizar

You can get a Purchase Code for the Digital version of Retail games at that price, and still get the points to get credit towards other games.

      SHABLAGOO!

    • Kuro-puppy

Exactly what I said, if they don’t milk the download cards to oblivion with overpricing like in Japan this could turn out to be awesome but if they do it’ll mean I won’t get much money out of it that way.
But webshops have not failed me yet here in the Netherlands and I hope that remains that way.

  • Kaizar

I got some good news & some bad news:

Appearatly the Home Console Version & PS Vita Version of “Sonic and All Stars Racing Transformed” will only run at 30 fps.

But the 3DS Version was build from the ground up for its own system version of the game, and will run at 60 fps with the 3D ON & OFF.

The Wii U version comes out in November 18.

The PS3 & 360 version comes out in November 20.

The 3DS & PS Vita version comes out in December 11.

Clearly some marketing going on here with the release dates, LOL but true.

    WE THE BEST! FOREVER!

    • Kaizar

But the Wii U can handle Crytek 3 & Unreal 4 at 100% capacity easily, so the Wii U version should run Sumo at 60 fps.

Seeing as the Wii U has a 2 GB RAM & IBM POWER 7 CPU.

I might only buy one game. I like getting games from retail stores, but I might do this for when I can’t find it or I’m lazy.

  • Hybrilynx

for those who likes things simple like i do, for every $10 you spend, you get $1 back.

or in other words, remove the last digit from the price you will pay. in this case, i removed zero.

  • AxGamer

Im sure glad i preordered the deluxe set.

  • Anubis

Nintendo has really outdone themselves with this system.I simply cant waittill November 18!!!
