Nintendo has renewed the trademark for Wave Race. That’s not a confirmation that Nintendo is working on a new title in the series — it might just be for the sake of protecting their intellectual property in case they want to work with in the future — but if something does come of it, I’d imagine it’d end up on the Wii U. That would be awesome, too. Wave Race 64 was the first game I owned on the Nintendo 64, and it’s still a fantastic title.

    One of three things:
    1) New Wave Race game. (best option)
    2) Blue Storm Wii U eShop release.
    3) Wave Race mini-game in Nintendo Land.

I’d much rather have all three than any specific one.

Woohoo :l… Actually it would be pretty cool to see a new wave race at one point.

  • abe

Wave Race was used to show case the n64′s power, they should use it again to show off the Wii u

Wave Race is an old series that would really need a new episode, same for F-zero. Both series have always been impressive in a technical way. Not that much games that old have environments where water actually looked like… water ^^”

  • John

Yeah it might be time for a new wave race. It wasn’t one of my favorites but I did play it and it might just work out really well in HD. (Visually the Trine 2 water levels come to mind)

    Wave Race Resort

    I called it.

    • Nintyfan10

I was thinking the same thing, w/ Mii’s

If you’re correct and they do come out with a Wave Race Resort, then someone should answer that phone, because you so called it.

  • nf_zeta

Is this game anything like JetMoto for the PSone?

  • Sam

You guys do realise that re-registering a trademark doesn’t necessarily mean a new game right? It’s very standard practice to renew a trademark even if you have no intention of using it, it simply means that it was going to expire and rather than let someone else make a game called Waverace, Nintendo wanted to keep the name for the future. It may be they want to make a new game, it may not

Why repeat what the article already said?

  • boyonthemoon

:O i just got into this game a while ago and its one of the best…it would be awesome if they made another one like it

    YES

WAVE RACE 64 WAS THE BOMB!
If they do make a new one, I want to play this game with online capabilities!

  • fredricofernando III

I’m just hoping they use the composer from “64″ and NOT the GC version. The difference in BGM between the two are like night and day. I love the tunes from Waverace64.

    I don’t get the stars thing…

  • StarTropics

YES! I AM A WAVE RACE ADDICT!!! I still play Wave Race 64 and Blue Storm often. I hope the person from Crytek that is working with Nintendo to develop a graphics engine helped them with their water effecs/physics or Crytek is developing it because they have REDONKULOUS WATER. But I don’t doubt that the next Wave Race will have AMAZING WATER
