GamesMaster Wii U

GamesMaster magazine has reviewed two games for the Wii U, providing us with the first insight of what might be worth picking up on the system’s launch day.

Nintendo Land received a score of 86%, and was described as “some of the most innovative, raucous and party-fuelling fun we’ve ever had with a console,” and “an essential purchase for party lovers.” It might not be a title that a “hardcore” gamer will want to spend a lot of time with, but if you have friends and family to game with, you pretty much need it.

New Super Mario Bros. U received a lower, but respectable score of 82%. According to the review, there’s a surprising amount of innovation in the later levels, although it still sounds very much like what you’d expect from a New Super Mario Bros. title for the most part. Even so, you probably won’t be disappointed with the purchase unless you’re extremely weary of the series.

It shouldn’t be a big wait before other reviews start rolling in, so it should be interesting to see what other outlets have to say about these titles.

    Is gamesmaster for US/Canada?

    • AxGamer

I live in the US and never seen it.

    • 100Shadow

      United Kingdom

  • Gytoria

These can’t be legit since outlets still haven’t received Wii Us yet (according to Rich from IGN).

    • BellaKazza

IGN isn’t a legit game reviewer either.

with all due respects it just seems off, sure fire with Nintendoland but NSMBU supposedly has LOTS of features that makes it the superior from the NSMB series, including challenges for the hardcore fans, so it seems fishy that they barely said anything about it

    • Paranormal Activity is comedy

“including challenges for the hardcore fans”
Where did you hear this? I might consider buying it if it’s better than that joke of a game NSMB2

    • Gila Monster

You thought NSMB2 was that easy? Even the DLC?

    • Paranormal Activity is comedy

I have not yet gotten those DLC levels, but yes. NSMB2 was way too easy to enjoy. I really love Mario games, but after that, I’d rather save my money and skip getting another NSMB game.

Unless this one is better… Which is why I want to know where the original post read that.

    • Gila Monster

Most of the DLC content in NSMB2 seemed to be made with players like you in mind.

I don’t know about you, but I had trouble finding the way to unlock those secret worlds.

They’re a UK magazine (quite an old one tyoo, used to be a TV show). Its not got the most trustworthy reviews historically imo: not because they are biased or anything, just that they seem to have rather ‘safe’ opinions about everything. The magazine lately seems to pander to Teh HaRdcoRz a little too much for my taste. Maybe im just getting old though.

You’re definitely right, I unsubscribed from them for a few reasons.

      1) Their features were very minimal, I could find out a lot more just by googling.

      2) I had disagreed with the majority of their reviews in the past few years. Not saying they’re wrong, but they definitely don’t like the same sort of games as me.
