Game Informer’s latest issue has shared new screenshots from New Super Mario Bros. U. You can check them out after the break.

  • GalaxyWafles

    Those are some nice screenshots

  • Guy

    They look sexy ::::D

  • mike

I hope they improve the detail of the characters and objects in the game :/ they sort of look a little bit like plastic. The backgrounds look fantastic though!

    • Co-Wink-Key dink inc

Yah, they look like some crap 3d project for school

  • RockieOllie

Despite the new features like the speed run modes introduced in NSMB 3DS and New suits. I’m having trouble getting excited for any of these 2D Mario games. I guess I’m suffering from Franchise fatigue.

Except Paper Mario, I’m getting that no doubt!

    • DonnyKD

What goddamn “franchise fatigue”? I hate when people use these words and don’t know what they mean.

“OMG we had 4 NSMB games in six years on four different consoles. FATIGUE! FATIGUE!!!”

    • http://www.youtube.com/user/MrKoopan?feature=mhee MrKoopan

I think it’s more along the lines of no new IPs, i’m excited for this, but I can see why others are not

    • o0o

      thank god for project p-100

that said, this game looks AWESOME!

    • http://www.youtube.com/user/MrKoopan?feature=mhee MrKoopan

god I’m excited for that game, anyone know if it has online modes?

    • o0o

nope, i don’t know about online for that game, we might find out september 13th (or is it 12th?) apparently nintendo’s gonna show off more games and stuff that day.

    • http://twitter.com/Omarsonic9 Omar Ahmed

I’m excited for every game Nintendo will bring. Goodbye my money, goodbye :’( *sad music plays…and stops!* WELCOME MY WII U, WELCOME! “xD” I might do that though..

    • http://www.youtube.com/user/MrKoopan?feature=mhee MrKoopan

I hope it does, even if it doesn’t it’s a day 1 buy for me

    • RockieOllie

      1) I know what franchise fatigue means bruh, I’ve been around long enough to know what means too.

      2) I said ‘FRANCHISE fatigue’ not ‘NSMB fatigue’. Your only counting NSMB games. Throw games like 3D Land and Galaxy 2 into the mix and you have quite a few Mario games in those years. Even if you exclude those games; 4 games in 6 years!? That’s a lot more than some of nintendo’s OTHER franchises.

I know Mario is the mascot and all but I want other/new franchises.
So excuse me for wanting variety! Its like you want Nintendo to be stagnant…

    • Holonboy

I wouldn’t describe four NSMB games as “fatigue” but rather lack of innovation. Don’t get me wrong – both my OCD and I love the “New” games, but each installment feels like an extra set of levels with improved graphics rather than a true sequel. I don’t know about NSMB-U yet, obviously, but it does look better.

I really like the 3D games more than the modern 2D Mario games. They’re more satisfying as games and truly brought innovations as sequels.
Super Mario 64 – This wasn’t the first 3D platformer but it was the first to have good controls and camera and physics, so it became the benchmark for 3D platforming.
Super Mario Sunshine – This game was a huge improvement from 64 in terms of controls, graphics and content.
Super Mario Galaxy – You know how each small planet has its own gravity, even when right by each other? The physics in this game alone is considered a massive feat in the video game industry, but add up everything else this game came with and it is considered a masterpiece.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 – I guess you can consider this game to have did what the “New” games are doing, but I see it as an upgrade from a masterpiece to a legend.
Super Mario 3D Land – This game added elements from the 2D Mario games and acted as a transition for 2D-Mario gamers to play 3D Mario games.

This is just my opinion. Feel free to argue.

    • RockieOllie

No its fine. I mean all this ever was me stating my opinion. i dont think there is much to argue since most of what you said i agree with. im just tired of mario games. i do prefer 3D over 2D, which explains why i dont get excited for NSMB like i get excited for them like i did for 64 and galaxy. but overall i just want to see effort put into other franchises.

    • CK

No I completely agree. It’s like…they’re still good games but I’m kinda burning out. Wouldn’t mind a new Mario 64 type experience though…

    • RockieOllie

I’m interested what they’ll do for the 3D wii u mario game.

    • Ichigo Kurosaki

I’ve been dying for a Mario Sunshine 2. F.L.U.D.D needs love.

    • KidWiththeBackpack

I doubt it will happen, but I am a big fan of Mario Sunshine myself, and I can’t help but remember the rumor that it was going to be remade for 3DS. Probably also really unlikely, but I would personally love it!

    • Tails the Foxhound

Well, take solace in the fact that New Super U and the inevitable 3D Mario are the last main series Mario’s we’ll see until 2017 (assuming only a 4 year lifespan for the Wii U).

    • DonnyKD

“Well, take solace in the fact that New Super U and the inevitable 3D
Mario are the last main series Mario’s we’ll see until 2017″

Proof? I know that NSMB won’t come out until next console, but you’re totally making that last thing up.

    • Tails the Foxhound

Mostly just the thing Iwata said about NSMB and past performance. Galaxy 2 was an anomaly, the last time they put two main series games out on the same console was on the NES (unless you count World 2 on SNES as a Mario game).

  • facetouch

Auto-scrolling Boost Rush mode? Sounds awesome.

  • luigifrx

Mini Mario running up walls? Sweet!
And OH MY GOD THAT CAVE LOOKS SO AMAZING! CAN’T WAIT TO PLAY! :D

  • Exclusive Content

    Backgrounds look Amazing :O
on the other hand, the character models are looking a little….outdated?

  • http://twitter.com/BenNikolajew Benjamin Nikolajew

Honesty, the game looks amazing, but there’s something off with the characters. From these screenshots, I have to say I prefer the characters in NSMB2. I hope they update it before the final release.

  • Bewoulf2000

I can’t wait for this, so pumped. I really like mini mario running up walls, its always fun pulling of tricks with him at his speed and jump. This games gonna be amazing.

  • Marty

    OH GOD YES.

  • atomic

awsome, in the first picture there are miis cheering mario on in the backround.

    • Akfamilyhome

      Where?

    • DonnyKD

      At the pillars.

Maybe we’ll be able to watch recordings/live streams of speedruns.

  • Vulpix

I can’t wait for this game and Pikmin 3.

    • Nintyfan10

The WII U IS SET FOR SUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCEEEEEEEEEEEEESSS!!

  • Akfamilyhome

Boost Rush Mode? Looks like Dash Mario from NSMB2 but more challenging….

  • disqus_7pqiroM76r

BABY YOSHIS!!!!!!! NOW IM EVEN MORE PUMPED!!!

  • boyonthemoon

these graphics are so good. i didnt rly notice how good these graphics were until i started playing the other new super mario games

  • Zack

I just know the Wii U is more capable than this.. Not to complain or whine about graphics, but a lot of things in this game just look boring and plain. Take a look at those pipes. Smooth and textureless.

    • DonnyKD

Oh I’m sorry, you’re apparently bitching about some other game, since, yeah, you’re wrong about fucking everything.

      1) boring and plain? Are you freaking blind?

      2) Really? The only complaint you have against the game is the fucking Warp Pipes? Not only that but you’re bitching about how its smooth. Yeah, because the Warp Pipes should be a jagged, pixelated mess!

    • Zack

No one is “bitching” about anything here, except for those who get overly offended at one comment. I’m not complaining about the game.. and I never said anything about a freaking warp pipe ruining anything. All I’m saying is that I know the Wii U is capable of more, and it’s a shame they can’t put it’s potential to full use just because of a simple art style.

  • Jono

This actually looks…. hard????? Can’t wait for this and Rayman!!!

  • lazorzez

I know it’s probably been said before, but this game would look really nice with graphics comparable to that of Trine 2.

  • Jray

the character models don’t really look different at all… especially the polygons… mario looks so weird and shiny
