Miyamoto talks F-Zero on the Wii U

There’s a lot of interest in F-Zero for the Wii U and, in just a few glorious sentences, Shigeru Miyamoto has provided the hope that it might actually be in development, or is at least being thought about. He said:

I think at the time it (F-Zero) was a really big surprise, a new thing, a product that made sense. I don’t see with current hardware how you could create a similar surprise. But maybe with future hardware, with Wii U coming up, maybe we could create something that does make sense, either as a smaller game, or a fully fledged title.

    owyeahh :p i used to play the f-zero thing on ssbb and via emulators i love the kames i would love to see a “full-fledged” game of it

    Wow, i remember i like 2004 or 2005 when i bought MKDD and it brought the bonus disk with a demo of F-Zero GX, that was amazing….

    I absolutely suck at F-Zero, but it will be great to see it again. I don’t want to see a beloved franchise neglected.

      WipEout is the best futuristic racer in the world.It’s 1000000000 times better than F-Zero.F-Zero sucks and so does Nintendo.

      it wouldnd be metroid prime considering that metrioid prime 1 2 and 3 is 1 story that ended with 3 so there wont be another metroid prime but another metroid ;p

      but i would love for the new metroid to have multiplayer online! :) imagine that

      There’s needed to be a new Metroid Prime game since the end of the 3rd one when that ship follows Samus. You could use the controller to scan objects. Awesome? Yes.

      oh yeah i forgot.. the open ending….. but isnt other-M a seqeul? or another story (never played other-M)

      Metroid: Other M is the bridge between Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion. You could say it’s the sequel of one and prequel to another. It happens directly after the events of Mother Brain (shown in Other M’s intro) and has key points that connect to Metroid fusion.

      If you’re looking for the usual Metroid formula, then you would be disappointed in Other M. I, on the other hand, loved it’s action and quick pace. It was a nice change IMO, but it didn’t have as much “free-exploration” as the rest of the Metroid Library.

      What they tried to do with Metroid was bold, but two many games suffer from fans unwillingness to see games change. Mario is one of the few idols that can branch onto any kind of genre. Metroid isn’t, that’s why so many fans dislike the way it plays… I believe it is definitely worth the purchase.

    F-Zero is way overdue and would be a good way to kick start the Wii-U like it did with SNES.

    F-Zero GX had mind-blowing visuals on the GameCube way back in 2005. I can’t wait to see what F-Zero would look like in HD.

    Also, if they make this game, I’d love to see some online multiplayer through Nintendo Network! :D

    I honestly want to see a new Star Fox game on the Wii U rather than an F-Zero game.

    Of course, I say that because I’ve hardly ever noticed the F-Zero series (other than Captain Falcon in Super Smash Bros.).

      You do realize Nintendo has plenty of development teams so they could both be in development

      Personally I feel a new StarTropics should take priority to Star Fox but IGN disagrees with me…………

    Oh yes yes YES! I freakin LOVED GX. I know that a new f-zero most likely wouldn’t be as hair pin turned as GX was…. but by golly I hope this happens. It was just insanely fun going at those high speeds. Oh yeeeeeeaaaaaah! 8DDD
