Miiverse 2

Nintendo has confirmed that these features:

  • Miiverse
  • Nintendo TVii
  • Nintendo eShop
  • Wii U Chat

…will not be available on the Wii U when you boot-up the system on November 18th. They will, however, be available via a system update on that same day. Just be prepared to play the waiting game even after you’ve got the system plugged-in. At least they’re not delayed like was rumoured though.

  • JacknZack

David, the update is also required to play old wii games. Here’s a source. http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/11/08/wii-u-needs-update-to-play-wii-games

I just feel sorry for the handful of people still without internet.

    • JacknZack

Well im thinking wii u’s after launch will have the update installed in it and the ones getting it launch most likely have access to online so thats goood

    • Ziggy

Also if there is enough space in the disk, they sometimes shuve an update into them, but mostly for best selling ones

    • AxGamer

Or games they think will likely be pirated

  • pikoromagus

im just waiting to “scene it” :), but if i can get a little cash im waiting, going to buy wii u with 2 games

  • Hybrilynx

not a problem. its not like you can use any of that without internet anyways.

Just like 3DS with the eShop & Web Browser.

I hope we get MiiVerse on the 3DS that same day, or by the end of December with a Firmware update to further increase battery life & CPU.

At first I thought they were doing the increase battery life just for more easier usability, but then I thought it was for the people with their 3DS battery already degenerated, but then I realize the reason why the battery life increased was because with an increase CPU while maintaining same battery was causing the charger to over heat a lot mor easily, so it seems that the increase battery life might be completely by accident, because they are keeping the AC Adapter from overheating more when plugged in while the 3DS is open & ON with everything ON & all the way up.

Its a good thing because when I thought it was for the people with a degenerated battery…….I thought that it would most likely be the only Wireless Firmware Update to increase battery life, but now I know it was for preventing the AC Adapter (3DS charger plug) from overheating further more then it does with the 3DS on Pre-Install Firmware.

I guess we might start getting Wireless Updates for new Firmware once every 3 or 4 months from now on.

I’m looking forward to a combination of increase CPU & Battery Life with 1 Firmware Update for each & every update from now on.

I wonder what the Wii U updates will end up like, since the Wii U has a Fan and is always plugged in 24/7 for any use.

The 3DS finish specs seemed to have been picked with the intention of further drastic improvement with Wireless Firmware Update to make the 3DS use more of its underclock CPU for future added functionalities, like they have been doing. (just look at how little power the 128 MB FCRAM consumes on battery life for more use of power then most 512 MB RAMs).

I suspect the Wii U Specs might be tailored for greater increase of power with Firmware updates as well…….plus it’s always plugged in an outlet, so it should be more easier to improve upon, since it doesn’t rely on any battery.

But I don’t think it will ever be able to handle a Crytek 4, but I could be wrong, depending on how much the Wii U can do with each Firmware Update, “Nintendo Style”.

      WE THE BEST! FOREVER!

    • AxGamer

I dont think firmware updates can possibly really effect hardware performance

    • Hybrilynx

      in javascript, a=a+1; is the same thing as a++;

for a gaming console at least, compressing or finding better ways to shorten codes is like changing a png image to jpg. jpg uses less memory then png, but you pretty much get the same thing. if that makes sense.

in other words you can. at least in my point of view.

    • Kaizar

And the Wii U on pre-install firmware has already got great really shorten codes according to Shin’en.

      SHABLAGOO!

    • Hybrilynx

well of course it will have the shortest codes possible. i could of went into great details what i mean but i wouldnt expect anyone to understand it.

  • Ice Climbers

Off topic, but Club Nintendo has their Intend-To-buy surveys for Nintendo Land, New Super Mario Bros U, and Ninja Gaiden 3 Razors Edge. I’m getting the Deluxe Wii U, so Nintendo Land comes with it. Will I still get the coins from the intend-to-buy survey, or would I have to buy the game separately for those extra coins? Also, can I get the Intend-to-buy coins for games I buy digitally off of the eShop, specifically NSMBU?

    • AxGamer

      Good question. I dunno.

    • Brandon

You will most likely get the coins since all the games have the card inside with the registration code.

    • Ice Climbers

      Ok thanks!

  • Omarsonic9

Maybe they did this so the all the Wii Us will be V1.0.0 on Day One before updating it?

    xD

    • http://www.facebook.com/tyrell.jones.9 Tyrell Jones

They did this because of the pre-launch Wii U owners. It was to keep em at bay from releasing anything else about the Wii U.

  • AxGamer

I knew I couldnt trust Neogaf for a living second.

  • Ziggy

    :O OctoG123!!

  • Symbol de Au

Add backwards compatibility with wii games to that list.
