Michael Pachter called for Wii U titles to cost $59.99, but it seems like he won’t get his wish. If rumours (and the above pricing sheet from GameStop) are to be believed, most titles should be available for $49.99. The pricing of specific titles, such as Batman Arkham City: Armored Edition are said to be “not estimates”, and that sounds about right. It would make little sense for the Wii U to be an affordable-ish system, only for the games to be placed in that higher, premium category of pricing.

  • Jordao

Why have some games a price of $99,99? Does this mean they don’t have a price yet?

    • http://www.facebook.com/martin.kearney.104 Martin Kearney

That’s what I think so too, seeing a videogame at $99.99 reminds me of one Guitar Hero set. XD

    • Kaizar

I ask the guy at GameStop when I got my own sheet and he said that those $100 prices are just place holders until they have a confirmed price or just go ahead and try to guess the price instead to replace the $99.99 that it currently shows.

LOL, I happen to get a printed list from GameStop too, and 3 Wii U games are confirmed to be $30 and a bunch of other Wii U games are confirmed to be $40.

There was also a lot of the, that said $50 & $60 & $100, but I can’t confirmed any of those until September or October thru Nintendo Direct, LOL but true.

      WE THE BEST! FOREVER!

  • bamby

I dont know but the only games mark at 49 are the one that are old Ports from the others sistem if you look the new ones like AC 3 say 59 and that make sense since ubisoft all ready say the make Ports on Wii cost Lees than
    1 milion to port

  • DeathInspired

Well technically he’ll still get his wish in some parts of the world….maybe….afterall, where I reside the games are about $10 more than they are in the U.S. Plus some other places complain of the exchange rates of their country’s currency with that of the U.S being unfair…..

  • Durango

It looks like just the multi-platform ones are $49.99. And most of the ones that cost $99.99 appear to be First-Party games.

  • Nintyfan10

Like expected Nintendo’s first party titles are going to be $50, while 3rd party cheats everyone of $60

  • http://twitter.com/PIKAX360Richard Richard S. Portillo

I guess its because of the popularty of the games.

  • Lizzie1238

These prices obviously aren’t real, half the games are listed as being $99.

    • http://twitter.com/PIKAX360Richard Richard S. Portillo

maybe the company hasn’t which prices are they yet.

  • Hybrilynx

well at least i can always buy used games for cheaper or just rent them for a few dollars. unless its metroid but everyone is being stupid lately.

  • boyonthemoon

$100 for 1 game… O_O good god, either the world is ending or i might not be getting as many wii u titles as i thought

    • Galaxy

it’s only a price holder until nintendo tells them the actual price. Did you not read what David wrote?

You actually thought it would be $100? WoW

    • boyonthemoon

oh… i guess i didnt understand the meaning of “price holder”… i uh, im new to this… but not rly…

    • George Tirebiter

That’s a holder price until they learn the real one.

  • http://www.facebook.com/B29056 Broady Cats

WTF??? 99 dollars for Pikmin???? I hope this aint real

  • TheFarmboy

I have my doubts on it. Like $100 for a game is robbery..

    • Plazma

Or, in other countries, the norm.

    • CBNS

Yes it’s quite much norm. in other countries. For example yesterday i bought Sleeping Dogs from scandinavia and price was 69,95€ ($85.95 USD) and in Argentina Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City costs 499 pesos ($108.3 USD).

    • TheFarmboy

Wow, thats pretty hefty. Must be how the currency is always different, right?

  • Guhtere

Wait, why is ZombiU $60 though?

  • Tails the Foxhound

Wow, these prices are all over the place. Why would they even print out a price of $100 for a customer? Aren’t they afraid of scaring people away?

  • gimmegimmekevin

Most titles? A good amount of games on that list are $59.99? PS3/360 have $50 games too but a majority of releases are still $59 so I’d count on that being Wii U game prices.

Those $49 games are older ports anyway (and some appeal to an audience not known to spend $60 on games)

  • Speed

I’m guessing the reasonably priced ones are accurate-ish while the 100 dollar ones haven’t been decided yet price wise.

  • http://www.nintendoworlds.com/members/turbopikachu.22921/ TurboPikachu

I see a game or two on that list priced at $59.99

I think it looks like the Wii U is going to follow the 3DS in terms of software pricing. There are 3DS games priced (brand new) at $20, $25, and $30 by lesser-known 3rd-parties, while Nintendo’s games and well-known 3rd-party games are going for $40.

And it seems we’re going to see Wii U titles by lesser-known companies for $40 while the big 3rd-parties and Nintendo are going to charge $50 and $60 for their games. KEEP IN MIND: Wii discs held 4GB-8.5GB and Nintendo charged you $50 for them, but Wii U discs hold 25GB-75GB, and Nintendo’s going to charge you $50-$60 for them. It’s a much better value, and people shouldn’t complain about spending $60+ on a Wii U game.
Really, in retrospect, it’s the old Wii games that were the real rip-off.

To be fair TurboPikachu, 3DS is by no means another DS -it’s next gen and titles cost more to make due to 3D.

    • http://www.nintendoworlds.com/members/turbopikachu.22921/ TurboPikachu

That’s what I say to others. I know very well that the 3DS is Nintendo’s 8th gen handheld, and is light-years ahead of the 7th gen DS/lite/i/iXL in terms of processing/graphical power.
But still, you’re going to see crappy games by unkown companies on the 3DS anyways, and those games aren’t gonna go for the premium price of $40, even with 3D. Only Nintendo/Activision/THQ/EA/Sega’s games for 3DS consistently cost that much.

  • http://www.facebook.com/craigybabyxo Craig Brown

Haha I love how Pachter wants them to cost $59.99, not to help the industry but so that the Wii U fails… I’m surprised people haven’t worked that out yet.

  • EddKupo

My goodness 49.99 is fine, but 99.99 is way to much. I understand if some games are 59.99, but still.

    • Hamez

It looks like the $99 is just a placeholder for titles that don’t have a suggested price yet.

  • Kaizar

I told you guys most likely $30 to $50 a game, and this list is Confirming $30 Wii U Games & $40 Wii U games.

And I wouldn’t be surprise if we later get confirmation of the $50 games being $50, as well as all the higher price games getting a confirmed price of somewhere from $30 to $50 each.

I also got a list of upcoming Wii U games from GameStop and 3 of the Wii U games are confirmed to be $30 each & a bunch of other Wii U games are confirmed to be $40 each, but thats all that can be confirmed because people are suspecting the prices to be $50 & up.

But I think there will also be $50 Wii U games.

    THIRD POWER!

    • http://PolyKhromeGames.blogspot.com/ Brian Lockett

Well, it’s a speculative list. GameStop does this all the time, so they can begin to accept pre-orders. But if you’ll notice, the brand-new AAA games are priced at $60 or a very tentative $99. Most of these games are not brand-new AAA games like Assassin’s Creed 3.

The games that are already available on other platforms now are priced at $50 because it’d be ridiculous to pay $60 for a game that’s already been long out on other systems. And the other games that cost $50 or less aren’t really the major-title games “core” titles.

These are just launch titles, which generally tend to be quickly-developed or quickly-ported games to begin with, so it’s hard to get a sense of just what direction in games the Wii U will have.

Will it have more brand-new AAA titles or will it just become another Wii full of casual and family games–only time will tell. We won’t really get a good sense of pricing for Wii U games until we start seeing more Wii U games.

Still, most of these prices seems highly speculative. I mean, $100 for Pikmin 3? That’s not going to happen. I think many games on Wii U will cost $50 (the less-than-AAA games), but simply because they’re not brand-new AAA-level games. I think brand-new major titles will cost $60. But hey, if I’m wrong, I’ll gladly be. ;0

  • Sour Grape

Guess this give us no chance of a bundle with nintendo land included with the console…

    • CBNS

Looks like that but maybe they will bundle Game & Wario then because it’s missing from list.

  • Ichigo Kurosaki

The new Smash Bros should be $60. Lol, would make a killing.

  • http://PolyKhromeGames.blogspot.com/ Brian Lockett

It’s just as I thought. The brand-new AAA games are full price at $60. The AAA games that already exist on other platforms before Wii U are priced at $50. The less-than-AAA and multi-platform games are also $50. The shovelware and family games are less than $40. Though, I don’t think this list means too much right now because these prices are tentative, subject to change, and based on assumptions by the GameStop company just to begin accepting pre-orders. Like, something tells me that Nintendo Land won’t cost $100.

  • http://www.facebook.com/barry.mcnamara.7 Barry McNamara

It looks to me like $99.99 but okay Jay, whatever you say.
