Is the Wii U Doomed?

“Is the Wii U doomed?” This is a question that Game Informer has posed. But, as for a lesson in navigating the wide world of misleading media, consider Betteridge’s Law of Headlines. This states that:

So no, the Wii U is not doomed. It just makes for a fancy, page view-grabbing headline, and that’s why articles like this exist. I can’t blame people for writing this sort of stuff — and to be honest, I’ve written this sort of stuff — but it’s important to be aware of the way people can manipulate a few words to grab your attention.

  The game cube did not fail, it just did not do as well as the ps2, you know why? because that was the only time sony got it clicked in their head that graphics mean JACK if you don’t have the games, Nintendo was actually the power monster with the game cube it crunched out much better graphics than ps2 but it did not have GTA since the discs could not hold much storage….back then GTA was GOD, now, not as much so nintendo does not need gta to be the best

  3D is not a fad.
  
  The old 3D require a 100 inch minimum to even look 3D so Hollywood had to stop among them…..but then new people started running Hollywood and said that 3D should be done on all movies, but then they later on found out that it can only be done on a minimum of 100 inch screen…..and this process repeated throughout history.
  
  You kept having brand new people in charge of Hollywood who didn’t know until after they made a bunch of 3D movies.
  
  But now we have Stereoscopic 3D, which is NEVER effected by screen size.
  
  And all stereoscopic content is in 60 fps minimum.
  
  And we only see real life in stereoscopic 3D anyways, LITERALLY.
  
  But High-Definition is just a passing fad since the 1950′s sadly.

  Uhm, excuse me, but can I get your source for the whole “old 3D required 100+ inch screens” argument? I’ve looked up everything I could find and never came across any sort of screen size requirement. I know the cameras were really expensive back then, which was a big restriction back then, but never about the size of the screens being one. The closest I could find was that technicolor film needed to be heated to get working, and some went up to around 100 deg Fahrenheit. Please and and thanks.

  I said HD a passing fad, because it has come and go, a million times.
  
  I explained why 3D came and with a lot of times already.
  
  But I believe that 4K HD might be here to stay…..thanks to glasses-free 3D TVs, like Toshiba (up to 9 people can watch it and move around).
  
  But 4K HD might go the way of all the other HD’s like 2K & 1080p & 1080i & 720p.

  the only problem i can see with 4K is the bandwith it’s take. The signal is huge and take a lot of room in a cable or satelite signal. and by the way 1080 P is 2K.
  Resolution is not a fad it’s the flavor of the month, it’s everchanging (really slowly). we had SD for a long time, then came the progressive scans than hd like 20 years after that the hd era came.

  Yeah, al,out all of today’s Movies are recorded with 4K Cameras…at least almost all of today’s Hollywood Movies, LOL.
  
  And they also use Stereo 4K Cameras (60 fps).
  
  Evn IMAX uses them for when they need a light weight camera and also for when they need a Camera to get into small places….so only very few scenes in IMAX is the low 4K HD quality.
  
  FYI the IMAX stereo cameras are 250 pounds heavy, LOL but true.
  
  I think digital cameras that can do IMAX quality & IMAX definition Displays will maybe be the final frontier, LOL.
  
  Imagine the Bamdwidth needed for IMAX streaming, LOL.

  IMAX is better than 4K HD, both in resolution & definition.
  
  But the rest of technology is still a long ways away, at least for affordability.
  
  I guess I just always got use to TVs getting better displays my whole life, just like graphics in Video games.
  
  So both graphics & higher quality images just became something I always saw as getting better with each few years, since my childhood.
  
  But 3D I rarely got to enjoy growing up, so I really love 3D.

  the 3DS wasn’t a fail but it was sold as a loss because Nintendo went crazy and sold the damn thing for twice the amount they thought it would be worth.
  They FUCKED UP HARD there, and now are making up for it enough with the 3DS XL and they slew of new titles (Kingdom Hearts 3D, Heroes of Ruin, New Super Mario Bros. 2 foe example) will hopefully bring their profits back up.

  The 3DS was always selling very well at $250….it’s just that Nintendo said they would be sold out of the first 4 million manufactured 3DS by April 1st 2011, but they actually ended up with only selling 3.61 out 4.00 million, leaving 390,000 left in the entire world April 1st 2011, for people like me to still get by April 6th 2011 for me, LOL.
  
  But the News Media in western nations are always total clueless lazy idiots and more than most of Nintendo stock holders didnt know anything about Video Games and just recently bought Nintendo stock because despite how much good news the 360 & PS3 got and how much bad news the Wii got; the Nintendo Wii still came out on top big time, but when they saw that Nintendo only sold 3.61 million out the predicted 4 million of Nintendo’s own prediction, they thought it was failing and got scared and sold all of their stocks making Nintendo lose a lot of their money at the time thru stupid stock holders, so Nintendo cut the price by $80 to get a ridiculous surge to show just what kind of sales the 3DS is capable of, so they could get their stocks bought at huge amounts of people again for their company’s sake.

  I think both Mario Kart U & F-Zero…..as well as Metroid will be 3D Capable, because by then, Nintendo should see enough people owning a 3D TV to start making all of their 1st Party games 3D Ready….and maybe DLC for the earlier Wii U games to be 3D Ready, as well as DLC to make Wii & GameCube games 3D Ready.

  - graphics won’t be a problem
  - the “big” (not that much actually) controller has everything you need for any type of game. Keep in mind the dual-screen idea sold over 170 millions consoles, and there is a lot more (camera, gyro, NFC, speakers…).
  - WiiU will have a good online system
  - if you say the WiiU is “the same console” because you already have a PS360, then you could say the PS360 are just upgraded PS2/XB. Except for better graphics, I have never seen the point in buy these expensive consoles.

I doubt it. 3rd parties already seem to be liking it, especially Ubisoft, and Nintendo’s first party games are always top notch and make any system sell well. I mean, look at what Super Mario 3D Land did for the 3DS. With all of this, the Wii U seems to be in the clear, if anything, especially with the XBox 720 and the PS4 nowhere to be seen. XD

This time it is, this Nintendo console is doomed (note: Nintendo isn’t, they could bring up a new console just like they did with the Virtual Boy) this console is a pathetic attempt at stealing Xbox 360/PS3 gamers. Graphics aren’t all but come on, more gimmick, first motion control (and still motion control) but now a touch screen, not only that, E3 came and went with nothing interesting and I am sorry but not a single Mario not even Zelda would make anyone buy a silly console with nothing to offer, it’s the same cycle again, when the new Xbox/PS releases Nintendo will be behind, I am getting tired of defending something when that something doesn’t give me anything back. Maybe not now but in 5-10 years Mario will be in another console (look what I did there LOL)

And before you start with “you don’t know the power of the Wii U”, it exactly looks like a powerless console, not for the “hardcore”. Otherwise Nintendo would’ve showed something no one can do, and showed games actually for the “hardcore” (Pikmin isn’t “hardcore” it’s in between “casual” and “hardcore” and still not enough)

Funny thing, I promised the day Nintendo turns into third party I would stop playing and so far I think that will be soon.
