How does the size of the Wii U compare to previous Nintendo consoles?

In case you haven’t seen the Wii U up close, Official Nintendo Magazine has shared a video on how it compares in size to previous Nintendo consoles, allowing with discussing the features of the system itself. You can check it out after the break.

    Glad to see it has some girth to it. Makes it seem more powerful. Size and power aren’t necessarily related, but it gives the indication of its guts. But I’m also glad that it’s not so huge that it won’t fit in with my other consoles in my cabinet.

    Wow, it already has a ton of dust on it. They should have gone with a flat paint to help repel dust.

      For about 2 hours, then it has a layer of dust on it. LOL
      I think a gunmetal or matte finish would have been perfect. My DSi never has dust on it and my monitor is gunmetal, no dust. Plus, gloss tends to get fingerprints on it easily and doesn’t come off very well. My DSi, no fingerprints, unless maybe UV light or something.

      Ugh matte is so ugly (most of the time), nothing that you have to look at constantly should ever have a matte finish. I’d go for a nice gunmetal or semi-gloss though.

    One thing I don’t like about the Wii U design… fingerprints will appear all over within 24 hours of play XD

    like anyone really gives a crap. i barely even know what the xbox look like. its just there, and i only barely see it if i have to change the disk for some reason. size doesnt matter as long as it isnt like a ps3 kind of oversized crap.

      whats negative about what i said? after i take a wii out of the box, place it where ever it needs to be, im never going to touch it or even look at it, unless i need to press the eject button. and, a ps3 is huge. last time i seen one it looked like a printer.

      The PS3 is huge (and looks like a George Forman grill) which is always good for a laugh. However the original PS3, notably the 60GB with chrome accents, was a sexy beast.

      I’d have to agree but you’re comment does come across as a bit hostile. As if someone constantly bugged you about the Wii U’s size in comparison to the Wii.

    Does the Wii U have an Ethernet port? I really need it, and so does everyone who haves cable internet. :(

      Try looking for an adapter or range extender of some kind on ebay. I’m sure you could convert an ethernet cable into a wireless signal somehow

      You remember the Wii usb eithernet adapter. You use one of those. They are pretty cheap.

    I experienced the GamePad for myself at Target. It really is ultra-light, and it’s the most comfortable controller I’ve ever held. Also, though its resolution doesn’t make for the most detailed display, it’s still one of the sharpest I’ve ever seen. At 6.2″ with a 854×480 display, it’s much sharper than the iPad 2′s 10.1″ 1024×768 display. And since the GamePad was muted, I judged with my eyes that the speakers behind those openings were like the analogue-output speakers found in the DSi/DSi XL (DS/Lite/3DS/3DSXL having digital-output), so don’t expect for the GamePad to have plasticy-tinny sound, but more like the iPad 2′s, except the iPad has one speaker, and the GamePad is full stereo. Unfortunately though, the Target’s Wii U demo station had a malfunctioning big-screen, and had no demos… Still, getting a feel for the GamePad more than 2 weeks before launch was a very satisfying experience anyways. :D

      I was very satisfied myself. What I love most is how it feels like a standard controller like 360, PS3, and or GC controller with a touch screen in the middle. It’s awesome how Ninten is movin ahead and continuin to make the game controllers for their systems unique
