The folks at Gearbox, who are working on Aliens: Colonial Marines for the Wii U, have not held back with their praise for the platform, and they’ve shared even more in the latest issue of Nintendo Gamer. Randy Pitchford, for instance, has said that he “loves” the platform, and is:

…very excited about it because it gives us a path to realise some things that are more future-looking than we could if we were only on the current generation.

Then Brian Cozzens, the game’s art director said the game itself is “going to look awesome” (which, admittedly, does sound just a tad biased coming from him), and that:

…it’s unbelievable how many things that exist in the Aliens’ franchise actually work for that controller. It’s been a real treat, quite frankly, because the controller and the features of the system enable us to do things we can’t do with the other consoles.

Hype. Hype. Hype. Hype. Hype.

I hope they mean more than motion controls or touch screen controls or button controls. I don’t know what the hell it could be that made them say that if it wasn’t any of those. But that would be amazing.

I dunno if it’s the right Aliens franchise or not, but if it’s the one with the chestbursters and stuff…

One of the things we were shown last year could work quite well with those Aliens. Marines and Aliens can, I believe, switch to different view-modes, like infra-red or night-vision. The Wii U controller was demo’d with the ability to be held in front of the TV screen to act like binoculars or a sniper scope.

It’s possible the Wii U controller could be used similar to a tracking device, Infra-red displayer, night-vision displayer or metal detector, among other things, that way.

Have you watched Alien or Aliens? In the movies, they have a motion tracker, a device that emits sounds when something around the user moves. It would be awesome to see something like it using Wii U’s controller.

Well I”m hyped for E3, and what they’re going to show off. Maybe like gameplay of New Super Mario Bros. MIi or PIKmin 3 graphics, for the first time in HD!!!
