Gearbox explains that Borderlands 2 would “work really well” on the Wii U

Gearbox loves the Wii U. They’re bringing Aliens: Colonial Marines to the platform and, of all the developers working on games, they’re the most vocal in how much the controller can improve gameplay. Brian Martel of Gearbox has even gone as far to say that:

If Borderlands 2 was on the Wii U, the thing I would be most excited about is inventory management: it would be amazing on that, it would just be fantastic. And I think the artwork would look really good, with the way they can deal with the resolutions and textures, I think it’s a really good console.

Let’s hope that “if” morphs into a “when” one of these days.

    Truly hope this morphs into a “when” someday. I loved the first installment in the Borderlands series and I’d love to see the second on the Wii U. :)

      I tried the first one and I just couldn’t get into it but I played for like ten hours admiring the awesome cel-shaded graphics which match the games atmosphere perfectly.

    I hope they have cage the elephant’s “in one ear” song on the game like they had “ain’t no rest for the wicked” for the first installment

    Instead of an “If”, why not say “when”? I think most fans that intend to buy the Wii U wouldn’t mind Borderlands 2. I wouldn’t, that’s for sure.

      I guess if you’d want to pay 70-80 for both of them. They’re not going to include the 1st one just like that. I can see it happening a year or two after the second one comes out but not this early.

      well not necessarily, look at the Metroid Trilogy pack, that came out just a few months after Metroid Prime 3 and that had 3 games.

      maybe a psycho with unicorns but not a psycho pretending to shoot himself. i rather play excitebots or something. maybe its becuz im not a violent person, unless its metroid.

      I’d assume quite a few people still play on it. I never got into Borderlands, I don’t know why it just never appealed to me, just looked like one of those games that was unnecessarily violent.

    I FREAKING LOVE THIS!!! no seriously i love this i love that a gaming company is actually defending the wii u to many stuck up douchbags have in ripping on it for wayyyyyy too long consonantly with its going to fail or that the tablet is bullsh*t OR that its weaker than the ps3 and xbox360 and this here just tells me that they would love to make games for the wiiu unlike alot of jackasses like activsion focring im !guessing! nintendo t make a regular controler WHY? ther is no need is hase all the fudgin buttons and a fraking screen! they could put the map there and the menu if you want to select a different character of mess with the options but im glad some people are defending it and are putting their awesome games on it thank you gearbox. My Wiiu list: Zombi U ive bin waiting for a good zombie survival game and this looks like one of them, borderlands 2, aliens colonial marines, darksiders 2, assassings creed 3, and more cant think of anyones anmore xD

    Try considering this stance and see how your writing improves: It’s not a matter of whether a game “works well” for a system’s capabilities. It’s almost completely a matter of the developers being competent enough to think outside of the box and adapt themselves to innovation.
