There’s a “rumor” that Zelda is planned for the Wii U in 2014. Now, I’m not saying this isn’t possible, but for the billionth time, the source of the rumor is a blog that I will continue to be ridiculously skeptical of based on inaccuracies they’ve shared in the past (and never cleared up), and the fact that their rumors are basically just people’s educated guesses with an apparent source attributed to them, and also exactly what people want to hear. As a result, people are quicker to buy into them, even though there’s nothing really to the information.

If I’m wrong — meaning, if the blog reports on a specific rumor that turns out to be accurate — then I will admit it. But for the moment, I don’t get a good vibe. As for the original story, you can check out a video report from GameSpot after the break.

but the zelda director lead guy already said that wiiu zelda would be built again around the wii remote plus and nunchuck he already stated that

I actually read more recently that Miyamoto wanted a more traditional-style Zelda.

    I hate stupid rumors.

As much as i’d like this to be true. We still have to wait to hear from the big N when there is anything related to 1′st party titles. I mean Nintendo does a very good job at keeping their info secure. We all knew a Zelda game was coming to Wii back when Twilight Princess was first launched, yet we didn’t see any gameplay for a long time. So for this Wii U Zelda to have been in development since 2010 it would seem logical to be released in 2014 but we’ll probably hear something from Nintendo this yr or next yr concerning.

David, you seriously need to be a professional journalist. You’ve got the talent and everything.

The source this all came from happens to be a decently reliable one according to something I read. They made may reports about the Wii U that turned out to be true.

  • The Random Man

Wasn’t it reported a few months ago that Zelda Wii U was in it’s “experimental stages”?

    The giant spider said maybe.

if a zelda wii u game comes out before metroid, f-zero, or anything else that needs a new release, im going to buy it. then, buy a good camera, turn it on, unwrap the new game, and smash the zelda game in pieces and maybe put it on fire. then post it on youtube as a zelda unwrapping case thing that people put on youtube.

    • Nice Ness

      …… e,e
      1) that idea is just dumb troll idea
      2) F-Zero might not happen for awhile because of the new Top Notch Racing Games coming out in the next few years
      3) WHY WOULD YOU SMASH A ZELDA GAME O.O
      4) I really dont know what they are doing with a metroid game but to be honest i want Zelda more
      5) ignore all these because it your opinion and i respect it :) you do realize, you’d break a triple A title game, Nintendo would still get the profit from your sale, you’d mostly get hate from youtube and Nintendo wouldn’t care :/ so your move….
OH you can’t spell ignorant without IGN :D lol i just thought of it

    • Hybrilynx

well on the bright side of all that, i can use ads in youtube.

    • Nice Ness

and? :/ for real are you a troll or are you serious

    • toonlinkuser

Nintendo still makes money off of you even if you don’t play the game……….

    • Hybrilynx

i will buy it used then, but thats not the point.

I don’t know about this but I really think they should put that tech demo from E3 on the Wii U. It’d be nice to be able to watch it on the console whenever you wanted and play around with the touchscreen.

That’d be a pretty great addition to include on the Wii U at launch, plus it just looks cool! :-)

David, nice to see someone else taking a healthy dose of skepticism. I can’t believe bonafide gaming news sites like Gamespot buy into this bollocks so readily. I know they acknowledge that the source is unamed but yet they still put it out there, perpetuating the rumour. It’s win win for WiiUDaily…if they’re wrong everyone forgets about it quickly. If they’re right, they get to say ‘we called it.’ Plus although I’m sure it will use the gamepad, Eiji Aonuma himself said that after Skyward Sword, he couldn’t see the serious returning from motion controls (although personally I hope it does!)

  • TrueWiiMaster

Supposedly the source for the rumor also talked about the Nintendo social network before it was confirmed to be the Miiverse, and the accomplishments thing before it, wait… did accomplishments ever actually, officially get announced?

Most of the rumor just seems obvious, like huge dungeons, tons of music, and special use of Wii U features anyway. I mean, come on. Was anyone expecting this game to be small or not take advantage of the new remote? This will be the first HD Zelda. It’s gonna be big.

  • person (formerly person)

I dont really pay attention to what gamespot says about zelda after their skyward sword review…

  • Nick

From what I’ve read and gathered, you want to be a journalist, and you do not like WiiUdaily.com much. From a news reporter a.k.a part of the evil that is the media: Get used to the rumors and the B.S. and the glad-handed reporting, it is widespread in every form of journalism. Have fun!

  • Jray

I’d like it if this rumor was true, Wii U needs a really amazing game to convince customers to buy, i can guess it’ll be announced at next E3 though (if this is true at all) I also heard that they will be using the same art style as Skyward Sword, but more detailed, so that’s great. I really liked that style because it could be cheerful, as well as serious and dark when it needed to be.
