We’re expecting the Wii U to be released in November, but if we’re lucky it may come out in October. Based on an interview with the folks at Gaijin Games about the next BIT.TRIP game though, it sure sounds like it will be one of these months because, when asked:

With a pushed release date to October or November and the Wii U releasing around then too, does that mean that you’ll try to finagle your way on there?

Alex Neuse of Gaijin Games responded:

(Smiles) I wonder. I wonder if that means that. Let me put it this way: we have a Wii U dev kit, and our game is coming out around the time that system launches, so that would be pretty cool.

It’s coy. That’s for sure. But at the same time, I’d be surprised if the Wii U was released before October anyway, so narrowing the release date down to a couple of months is really not a huge deal.

I personally think that a release in September or October might be the best idea. If it releases between those months, then it will have more games for Christmas, which means more reasons for people to buy it. It will also have become more famous by the holiday season. More people will know about it, which also means more people buying it. That would be much better than a November-December release

My thoughts exactly. Late September-early October is their best bet, IMO.

Nintendo seems to like releasing their home consoles the week before Black Friday though.

I think October would be a great month to launch the Wii U… or the Wii Entertainment System :P I would like it to be renamed the Ultra Wii Entertainment System/Super Wii Entertainment System/Wii Super Entertainment System/Wii2 Entertainment System (With a small 2 to the top right of “Wii”) OR Wii-U Entertainment System.

That sounds long and confusing. It was good with the NES and the SNES, but the WUES or WSES or W2ES or UWES? Out of the question. The Wii U is good enough.

I still think it should be called the Nintendo Stream. I think its catchy.
