Electronic Arts has claimed that the next generation of gaming “is yet to come”, meaning that the Wii U is a generation behind, like they believed the Wii to be. They did say to “never count Nintendo out”, but:

…I wouldn’t say that we see much correlation between the results that Nintendo have just shown with the console debut of the Wii U and what we see coming. We see a pretty sharp distinction and unfortunately I’m unable to go any further than that.

There’s been a lot of leaks as of late with regards to the PS4 and the new Xbox, so I don’t think it’ll be long just how sharp these distinctions actually are.

I cannot tell you how I hat ethese people at EA for being soo old-fashioned about gaming consoles – if it was about graphics I would buy the PC versions. The consoles should offer something different than graphics , especially gameplaywise , to sell…

There’s rumors that Sony and Microsoft have got more interesting things planned for their new consoles rather than just increases in power. The PS4 is supposedly going to ditch the dualshock controller for an ‘innovative’ new controller, while the next Xbox is supposedly going to come with a next-generation version of Kinect with significantly improved functionality, and even more features.

They need to really impress me to convince me to not ditch them for a gaming rig.

I thought EA was mad at Nintendo for not having Origin as part of the Wii U? If so then can this info really be trusted hmm I wonder.

When was the last time EA said/did something trustworthy? The sooner they go out of business the better.

Man, everyone is talking about the next gen like if the nextbox and the PS4 are going to be so awesome, so cheap, and will have such a huge variety of launch titles that people won’t even consider for a second the Wii U. Nintendo is the veteran of the videogame industry, and everyone is saying they just don’t have a chance against Sony and Microsoft. Please…

well you cant do so many simple things. like pressing the home menu at certain times…. i still dont know why they did that.

    • http://www.facebook.com/AJ.Fowl Andrew Chambers

It’s because they haven’t fully optimized the OS yet. If they let you press it whenever you want it could cause the system to lockup.

  • Nintendo_Rules

EA, if you people don’t want to support the Wii U that fine. We don’t want to play a water down version of the game anyways!

  • NPeart

I see sharp distinction between EA and other publishers quality on Nintendo platforms.

  • TheLordOfDarkness

Well, they’re right. The Wii U isn’t ‘next gen’… because it’s current gen. Wii and PS360 became ‘last gen’ when the Wii U (the start of the current gen) was released.

  • TrueWiiMaster

That’s one way to spin what they said. Another way is to think that by “next gen is yet to come” they mean that next gen won’t really start until more next gen systems come out. Likewise, note that they said “I wouldn’t say that we see much correlation between the RESULTS that
Nintendo have just shown with the console DEBUT of the Wii U and what we
see coming”. Nowhere in that quote do they mention anything like a power gap. They could be talking about console sales, game sales, their own sales, etc, and that they see no correlation between how sales on the Wii U were so far, and how they expect sales on the PS4 and 720 will be.

    • http://www.facebook.com/AJ.Fowl Andrew Chambers

Yeah, I don’t feel like the Wii U will have true next gen content until at least the nextbox is out.

  • http://www.facebook.com/JonathanRider Johnny Rider

The correlation between Wii U and what they see coming is completely different to the correlation between Wii U and what is coming. For all we know PS4/720 could be less powerful than Wii U, I mean I doubt it but it could happen.

I absolutely freaking HATE EA with the most passion, its seems like they are racist against Nintendo. I ain’t never going to buy a EA game.

    • http://www.facebook.com/AJ.Fowl Andrew Chambers

they are prejudice, not racist. Stop being so god damned liberal!

  • RoyCar69

Limited freedom of speech here folks. I spent 20 minutes writing a really good comment and got the c block because I used the excrement word. Lesson learned. Suppose I could go back to Joystiq and get hated on by PSheeps & Xbots…

  • 3DSFlo

Other 3rd partys say Wii U is very powerful. It can run Pikmin 3 and that game has a lot going on! EA are greedy lieing party po0pers that are no fun.
