Director of Super Mario 3D Land has “too many ideas” for Mario on the Wii U

Yoshiaki Koizumi, the director of Super Mario 3D Land on the 3DS has admitted that he has “too many ideas at the moment for Mario games on Wii U.”

He explains:

I’m going to have to start narrowing them down and thinking about which ideas might work well together so that the whole system will be an enjoyable experience rather than a hodgepodge of ideas.

This probably means the first major Mario title on the Wii U will be packed with a bunch of crazy ideas. It also means we shouldn’t expect to see the game at the launch of the Wii U. It could take a couple of years.

    Well then, lets hope New Super Mario Bros. Mii is being made into a real game. The Wii U needs a big first party title at launch unless we want a repeat of the 3DS launch.

    the ppl in charge of NSMB is another team, so basically, Koizumi could take his time and build a great mario game while also (possibly) having NSMB mii as a launch.

    Let it not be another Super Mario Galaxy, let it be a whole new series, in a crazy fantasy world, which isn’t the mushroom kingdom! OR! Just let it be in the mushroom kingdom, but let it be a whole world where you can explore alot of things and also where you have to collect stars, again, to open up for other areas, which Bowser has sealed away, like the beach, forest and snowy mountains! Let it be called Super Mario Black n’ White! Bowser has stolen all colors, feelings and energy and Mario, with his new weapon, the star brush, has to help restore the kingdom WHILE saving Peach, which has been kidnapped, again, by Bowser! :D

    How about a Mario game where music plays a big part? (No, Mario characters won’t sing. =p ) Like, different genres of music take over as the levels. Just my idea.

    People don’t seem to comprehend this but Sunshine WAS 64′s sequel. Galaxy WAS Sunshine’s sequel. Sorry.

    sorry but mario sunshine was one of the least selling mario games to date.. i doubt they’d make a sequel to a game that not as many people played.

    To be fair, Pikmin 3 is gonna be a launch title, so we have one big first-party game at launch. Still, considering my little bro’s love of New Super Mario Bros., I wouldn’t mind if they released New Super Mario Bros. Mii as a full game at-launch.

    although they were the least selling they need a sequel so they could fix what they got wrong, and overall 5.5 million is pretty good.

    Though I gotta wonder… Is Super Mario 3D Land part of the Land series on Gameboy? Is it separate from those games. The reason why I asked because I really like the Super Mario Land series, it was a different take on Mario.

    why not a game where Mario and Wario have to team up and save Waluigi and Luigi from Bowser or some other antagonist, only because they need each others help,and their friendship devolps in an odd manor,that would be refreshing and fun,not to mention Wario type levels along with Mario type levels would be amazeing,i want to see this happen,i always thought Wario wasnt well fully appreciated in the Mario series,he always has a spinoff or is included in mario party,make this happen nintendo

    Come on Nintendo, release a flippin Pokemon game that has all five regions! Put the menu and stuff on the controller, so you have a full HD Pokemon battle in all its glory! no Mystery Dungeon or Ranger or Battle Revolution, we want the main series to have a console game!

    I would rather see something unconventional as a first-party title for the Wii U. Preferably a new IP. Take your time on Mario and do it right. I think a Starfox game at launch would be PERFECT for the Wii U.

    Unless they already have a launch Mario game planned, I wouldn’t want them to rush one out. If they just started on the project, I say they should take their time.

    Why galaxy3? the machine is called WiiU U!!

    This means they should take logical rout from galaxy level and up it to the Universe.

    They need to launch the U with either a Mario game, a Mario Kart game, or an original Zelda game. That’s why the 3DS flopped at first, then became a superfantastic peice of hardware after MK7 and 3D land.
