CryEngine is running on the Wii U

Crytek has confirmed that CryEngine, their high-end game engine that powers the Crysis series, is “close to fully running on Nintendo’s new system.” Unfortunately there are no further details beyond that, but it’s awesome news nevertheless.

    WOW Timothy are you serious? I don’t wanna sound bashful but seriously? First of all Cryengine 3 is WAAAAAY better than Cryengine 2. Sure Crysis 2 ran on a watered down version of it, but if you look at the tech demo’s of what Cryengine 3 is really capable of….. there is absolutely NO WAY possible that the PS3 or Xbox 360 can handel that. My god dude, they improve their engines, not downgrade them. Wii U is a very capable device running on latest tech, IBM is claiming iats Power 7 processor. Thats SIGNIFICANTLY better than the earlier rumors!

    Really i was sure the cry engine was downgraded for 3 so i could run on xbox 360 and ps3 which is why crysis 2 looks so ugly compared to the first 1.

    50% more than ah-hhmmm all righty then so called developer thats really a analyst lol @ analyst spec experts.Edram confirmed power tech confirmed r700 series custom gpu confirmed lots of edram ibm claim that in its self says above ps3 and x30 conbined 50% more sonds like a complete waste of power and edram tech il say bare bones mimimm its maxed out ps3 and x360 combined

    I may be wrong just every body I heard talk about cry engine 3 said it was horrible and a major downgrade to the first one but its show hard to tell because the only cry engine 3 game i know is crysis 2 and its uglier than the first and the demo i thinking had crysis running it but it was uglier than on cry engine 2.

    Epic won’t admit that their engine run smoothly on the Wii U, because they don’t like Nintendo. Well, that’s what I’ve heard anyway.

    System power is cool… I want good games, thanks! Once you get a decent 1080p output source, it’s rather hard to tell differences from console to console. Even then, it’s up to the dev’s. Here’s hoping for awesome games!

    Arkham City is supposedly coming to WiiU so it was obvious that it supports Unreal.

    Think of it like this. Why wouldn’t it be CryEngine 3?
    And speaking of pure EPIC, UNREAL 3 is on the console.
    Wait there’s more, Frostbite 2, Anvil Engine, and possibly id Tech 5 later on. Maybe even the Source 2 engine. Time will tell.

    CryEngine 2 is a billion times better than CryEngine 3
    because it was designed for PC. The graphical capability’s of CryEnigne is far superior to CryEngine 3 which was made for the
    Xbox 360/PS3.

    Umm that doesn’t mean it looks ugly on the PC version, as a matter of fact, it looks a lot better than the console versions.

    Plus, it was their first time using the engine on the consoles so there is no excuse to say that the engine was bad

    Even though the PS3 and 360 are NOT capable of that. The bird scene looks WAY better than anything I’ve seen on a PS3 or 360.

    um no they used unreal engine on gamecube games and epic said if nintendo comes out with a better console they would use unreal engine 4 on it

    Omfg, The WiiU is more powerful than my brand new gaming laptop if it’s able to run Crysis at top settings. :O This is a good step for consoles.

    Just wait there are so many different routes this can go:
    Option 1) someone already said this but fan-boys will start saying "The graphics still suck".
    Option 2) Sony copies Nintendo yet again but the fan boys think "Oh this is way better and innovative"
    Option 3) People just randomly hate Nintendo still even though they were clearly proven wrong about all their thoughts.
    xD I can guarantee you any if not all, of that will happen.
