Wii U to launch in Europe, Australia, North America and Japan before Christmas 2012

We knew the Wii U was being released this year, but Satoru Iwata has also confirmed the console will be available in all major regions including Europe, Australia, North America, and Japan in time for Chrismas 2012. It'd be odd if they chose to do anything else, but at least we have the total confirmation.

I hope that like the Wii and original DS before it, the Wii U launches first in North America :)

I really hope this does not mean DURING Christmas holiday season, this will portray a sense of loss towards new buyers and current casual Wii owners. If the console is released during the October/November period, it will give it enough fuel and news rep for everyone, mostly the individuals that do not keep up with their news, to even know it exists, giving parents everywhere the idea for a perfect Christmas present.

Before christmas still means between e3 2012 and christmas 2012.
So nothing really new...

I hope they release it before december....

(Still good news though, that it isn't delayed)

I think the Wii U will launch September or November. Nintendo usually sticks to that schedule.

I was hoping around September 0_0
But if it will make improvements i'm fine with that :D

I'm seeing somewhere between September and Early November. I'm seeing Nintendo wants to spread the word about the console. Nintendo said earlier that they learned a lesson from the 3DS launch. I just hope this has awesome launch titles and the price is quite light on the wallet.

Does this mean a global, world wide launch on the same date?

Sega said that the Wii U would come out in Summer 2012 a while ago, they were wrong!

Propably it will be released nearly same time in every region. I don't see any reason it would be released first in somewhere, and then few weeks later somewhere else. Though it would be funny to see Americans colmplaining about delay in America...

i kindof expected this

Nintendo really means it when they launch the Wii U world wide... on a global scale, that is. I know a few third party publishers will release their games for the U. I want to know what Nintendo games will be releasing...

Judging by how the GameCube and Wii both launched on the 3rd Sunday of November, I'd expect for the Wii U to follow suit:

GameCube: Sunday, November 18, 2001
Wii: Sunday, November 19, 2006
Wii U: Sunday, November 18, 2012

@MikeS and what makes you think you're that special? How up your own ass do you have to be (after always having everything first up until 2010) to say you SHOULD have it first? I love America and people are great there but some of you think you're bigger and better than you are, you're no more special... I'm sorry it's harsh but it's true. What's so wrong about it coming out the same day? The only reason Europe are getting things first now is because economically, it's a lot cheaper to do so for Nintendo and easier for them.

It would be a perfect opportunity to pre-order the game one month before it comes out; on Black Friday.
