Bayonetta 2 Logo

Bayonetta 2 is coming to the Wii U as an exclusive title. A horde of overly-sensitive gamers felt offended as a result of this, but Atsushi Inaba of Platinum Games has made it clear that Bayonetta 2 would not exist without Nintendo. This is what he said:

Would Bayonetta 2 not exist without Nintendo? The answer is yes. We are not viewing this as a change of platform. We were looking for a partner to create Bayonetta 2 and Nintendo was a strong, cooperative partner that was willing to create and grow Bayonetta 2 together [with us]. As a result the platform became the Wii U.

People will always find something to complain about, of course. I’m sure there’ll be something in the near future that gets a whole bunch of peoples panties in a twist.

i love all the people mad at nitendo because their favorite game (at least one of them) isnt on their console, its sad really, they need to learn every console (and pc) have their ups and downs whichs makes them equal, it also makes them look like morons

    • Ichigo Kurosaki

But basically all the people that are pissed at Nintendo or Platinum Games as a result need to check their sources and re-evaluate. They should be mad at Sony and or Microsoft respectively for not stepping up to take advantage of the project. Had they made any kind of effort they may have had a chance to make it an exclusive. But alas they didn’t so people should just get over it.

    • Pyroblock

exactly, like i said, just makes em’ look like morons xD

    • Megajacob

sony took final fantasy from Nintendo(platforms) in the 90′s but we didn’t complain

    • Pyroblock

its funny if you think about it because that game series was inspired by zelda xD

    • TheFarmboy

But it seems at the moment, Nintendo and Sony is having a power struggle with Kingdom Hearts.

    • Robtopia77

@D_man_22:disqus Exactly! That is exactly what I was saying. Sony and Microsoft had the funds to do so, but they chose not to. Nintendo heard what the so called “gamers” wanted and seized the opportunity to help the Bayonetta 2 project. The true reason why those cry babies are mad is not because of the fact that the gameplay is going to change (because its not); but the fact that it is on a Nintendo console. To be honest Nintendo will never satisfy them because they already made up in their little minds that Nintendo brands “are for kids” (though they forgot the fact that Nintendo use to put hardcore games from the late Snes to the mid Gamecube era).
So to some this all up:
Sucks for them and Lucky us; they are just gonna have to deal it.

    • http://twitter.com/Revolution5268 Revolution

ironically we don’t have the prequel.

    • Pyroblock

it came out 3 years ago, is a bit late to port it -_-

  • XypherCode

If it involves Nintendo people always finds something to complain about. If this ever happened to either Sony or Microsoft they just stay silent. Nothing is fair these days. :

    • shmuga9

If the game went dead they would be silent, or at most, a bit disappointed. Honestly no one would’ve cared if it came to the other consoles. It would’ve been swept under the rug. It’s only now that Nintendo is involved that people are making a big fuss.

    • http://twitter.com/Revolution5268 Revolution

yeah thats how i see the ps3 and xbox fanboys trying to hate us.

    • BellaKazza

For some freaking reason, people have become hostile and negitive to Nintendo.
      My question is: why?
Why all the hate? Nintendo had saved the industry and has stopped at nothing to bring us great games and amazing experiences.
Everyone loved the NES and the SNES, but then the hate started with the N64 continued with the GameCube and then the Wii.
Do Sony and Microsoft fans even know what would happen without Nintendo?
What happend to the love big N has gotten before?
They claim that Nintendo abandoned them with the Wii.
Did they support them with the GameCube? Nintendo gave exactly what we wanted with the GameCube.
      What happend?

    • XypherCode

IMO it really comes down to the Wii-360-PS3 era. Just because it was underpowered (even with the huge library of great games released) they sided with MS and Sony. Actually that also started the HD fanboyism. If the game isn’t HD then they think the console itself is crap hence the hate. Of course that doesn’t entirely justify all the hate. But at this point who knows? In the launch of Wii U we’ll just have to wait and see and hope that all this “hate” lessens. I also think it’s the fault of endless shovel-ware and crappy party games (non-nintendo). Because of those kinds of titles people just took the console for granted and unfortunately labeled as a “kiddy” platform. :(

  • Megajacob

if your a true gamer then you would buy any system

    • Bob.

The only reason why fanboys exist is because they’re too poor to buy another console. I have a PS3, an Xbox 360, an awesome PC, a Wii, a 3DS, a Vita, and I’m getting a Wii U. And I freaking love them all!

    • Luciano Fran

I surely can not afford more than one system ..I have to be responsible person when it comes to my hard earned money I can either save or waste.. but I do spoil my self every know in then but I do ask myself when buying things “am I really gonna play this”. You probably have money like that and thats kool but you have to set boundaries and set limits Wii U is most definately gonna be my only console I own nest gen not because Im a fanboy but beacuse I set a limit to myself .Nintendo always makes quality games and great innovative consoles and just dont have the time to play 100s of games like that I love video games too but theres has to be a limit

    • ei8bitNinty

Instead buying an XBOX console, go for PC. PS3 and Wii U are great in console bcoz 1st party are massive!

    • Cokimoto

Same here I don’t really know why american gamers complain so much. Games and consoles cost more on other countries than america take japan as the prime example, I own every console but thats cuz I worked hard for my stuff, I am a Responsible Dad, You Americans have gamefly which makes things easier you got redbox too and stuff

    • Adam

Sorry to burst your bubble, but in the real world people don’t have limitless funds.

    • TheFarmboy

That’s true, not everyone has unlimited funds. Course you can always save up money, get a job, or win the lottery.

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/WUO7JRPFS2K52LUXIY2LLJ4TSU Sean

He never said to buy every system though. He said buy “any” system.

As in having an open mind towards every system because really it’s the games you want to be playing not the consoles. Choosing the console to buy based on the games it has…..and not having a bias towards a console for silly trivial reasons.

    • ei8bitNinty

I agree. but I’ll be more agree to adam… in the real world people don’t have the funds to buy all. But there’s always a solution… hehehe… start saving. ^_^

    • http://www.facebook.com/henrik.puetz Henrik Puetz

well-lets start this different-If you are a true fan of a game series , you would buy every console it belongs to.Thats why I get every Nintendo console – and because they´re always innovating.

    • http://twitter.com/Revolution5268 Revolution

not really unlease you are smart you may end up buying a garbage system, it has happen before. (3DO)

  • http://www.facebook.com/tony.lane.35 Tony Lane

This is just one of the reasons I want to buy the Wii U… especially since Nintendo have saved Bayonetta. At the end of this year, I’m purchasing Bayonetta 2!

  • http://www.facebook.com/jack.smith.315080 Jack Smith

    Nit pickin bitches thas all,

  • ei8bitNinty

Bayonetta is a great game but sadly, don’t sell well in both console [PS3 & XBOX360]. That’s the reason why there’s no sequel to this game. Sony and Ms don’t see this, if your game is not selling well to the market, then your doom even it is highly recommended to the hardcore gamers. Here comes Nintendo, it is a timing that Nintendo new system need a hardcore game and believing that this game will surely kick some ass. Thanks Nintendo.

  • VioletFox

I just hope they bring the first one to wii u as well, never got to play it.

    • XypherCode

Yeah I hope so too. But that’s up to Sega I believe. Unless Nintendo intends to publish the first game given that Sega hands over the publishing rights of the game to them.

  • TheFarmboy

It seems that the wambulances seem to be working overtime in regards to people complaining that Bayonetta 2 being a WiiU exclusive. Weren’t there people asking for the WiiU to have hardcore games?

  • Tails the Foxhound

To all the people whining about this being exclusive I only have this to say:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfrTAt_m1po

Also, Iwata said more Platinum games from Nintendo were in the pipe, so you naysayers may wanna leave that on repeat.

    • http://PolyKhromeGames.blogspot.com/ Brian Lockett

Not to mention that Nintendo’s been very supportive of their more creative games before anyone else did. Even back when some at Platinum Games worked as Clover and created Viewtiful Joe for GameCube. Who was right there to support their zany comic book game first? Nintendo. It’s only Nintendo maintaining a good relationship they’ve already long had. You can see that with Platinum Games’ strong support of the Wii U launch window.

  • Guhtere

So all those people who are mad at Nintendo for making Bayonetta 2 a Wii U exclusive need to see that if it wasn’t on Wii U it wouldn’t exist on any platform.

  • RaggleFraggle

    Keep raging, idiots.
    Your butthurt is delicious.

    • http://twitter.com/Revolution5268 Revolution

      ah somebody help me!^^^^^
      cool name by the way.

  • norman

In this case Bayonetta should be an exclusive character to the Wii U version of Sonic All Star Racing Transformed!

    • http://twitter.com/Revolution5268 Revolution

i though bayonetta belongs to platinum.

    • http://www.facebook.com/tony.lane.35 Tony Lane

Bayonetta is a trademark of Nintendo. Game by Platinum Games, Inc.

    • http://twitter.com/miiworldtoo miiworld2

…or an exclusive character in the next Smash xD

  • AceNinty

    Well that´s a confusing answer. ”
Would Bayonetta 2 not exist without Nintendo? The answer is yes.” Why can´t he just say bayonetta 2 won´t exist in a simple way? ._.

    • http://twitter.com/Revolution5268 Revolution

because Nintendo help it fund that’s why it said “Bayonetta 2 not exist without Nintendo”.

  • http://www.facebook.com/tyrell.jones.9 Tyrell Jones

I wish people would stop bitching. They should think about how Ninten gamers felt when they couldn’t get the game on the Wii, but even then we didn’t complain. Now it’s on the WiiU console, they’re just experiencing what we had to experience; like the man said, everyone will find something to complain about no matter how trivial it is.

  • http://PolyKhromeGames.blogspot.com/ Brian Lockett

Been saying that from the start, to all the whiners on other forums.

You mad, disgruntled gamers elsewhere? Well, consider that Nintendo helped bring the series back from the grave. It’s only fair if they have the series exclusively. Besides, I wouldn’t even want to play the game on any other console but Wii U now.

    Here’s a typical anti-Nintendo fanboy’s testimony.
