Nintendo TVii

Nintendo detailed the existence of Nintendo TVii at their recent(ish) media briefing. It’s a complete suite of software to enjoy both television and web-based content via the Wii U, and you can check after the break for an extended look at its features.

Oh I want to see that mythical main menu when you boot up the Wii U. Nintendo TVii rocks.

    • lonewolf88

you know why the wii u has a release date and they didn’t just release it on sept 14 well the rumor is that you may think your body is ready but right now your body is trying to evolve so it can handle it so they put a release date of november 18th because thats when they think we will be ready but be warned if its not your head might exsplode you might also be thinking well why do places like japan have a longer release date well thats because monster hunter is like a god there body needs to mature lol i am joking atleast i think O_o but the first glance of the wii u opening screen i’m going to have like 5 people over to see the amazing menu :D

Lmaoooo!!! This made LOL at work. And I can relate. I thought my body was ready when they had the press conference that day. But me and my PS3 weren’t ready. My PS3 blew up cuz it knew I was gonna sell it for credit towards my Wii U. And I wasn’t ready cuz I woke up the next day still watchin Wii U videos. So if the Wii U was released actually on that day, I wojuld not even be typing this. I would be on my Wii U playing Nintendo Land and Brawl.

    Looks sweet

I am really impressed with Nintendo’s effort going into this… especially the sports section. Being able to see all of the stats and everything will be really useful… can’t wait!!! I just hope all of this isn’t limited to certain shows/programs.

  • giroreaper

I think they are doing this since they still aren’t doing blue ray or dvd. Which I’m okay since everything that I watch is through my computer screen

    • YayGs

Maybe so. I maiy use netflix but with season premieres coming on this will be great for that. I also dont mind that it doesnt have dvd or bluray player, it increases cost and I already have a dvd player, who doesn’t.

    • Hawkeye

I don’t think you understand how it works. Season premiers will not come on this, they will come on the system for the companies you subscribe to like DirectTV or Comcast. Basically the Wii U is just going to act as a really fancy controller for your tv and as a great way to search for content.

    • YayGs

Yeah I know. This will help me not miss them when they come on air on TV.

  • Hybrilynx

dont needa watch it. i already know its better then xbox or anything else.

  • nf_zeta

This actually gives me a lot of hope for the Online of the Wii U, now i know its not directly linked to Nintendo Tvii in any way but for the ‘first’ time we are seeing something Nintendo has produced after seeing how the competition does it and it seems pretty sweat so far.

Hoping the same will be true for the online, after all Miiverse alone already looks nice.

This so would prove interesting. When I get the Wii Universe, I will use this to find .the shows and movies I love to watch

  • Exclusive Content

Lots of potential here. Its looking kinda beta right now though :

This looks great, but as its only announced for the US that worries me.

I was REALLY hoping I could switch to using the Wii U for Netfilx HD streaming as currently I used a Fat PS3 which is loud, uses a fair bit of power and kicks out a ton of heat.

Obviously it makes no sense to get a new PS3 just for Netflix, but it worries me that as Nintendo are making a big deal about TVii that they might not be willing to release JUST a Netflix app, instead leaving us with nothing until they figure out deals with the networks for a UK service.

Sure, it would be AWESOME if it could stream content from my Sky HD box, but I can’t imagine that happening to be honest. I don’t watch much TV any more thanks to Netflix, so having to wait would suck.

    • Brandon

I don’t see why Netflix wouldn’t be in HD if you are using the HDMi connector from the WiiU to the TV.

    • Alex_Atkin_UK

You miss my point, which is that Nintendo TVii appears to be a replacement for the various TV apps.

So will the Wii U even have a Netflix app/channel or is it ONLY supported via TVii? Which is a problem as TVii is only available in the US at launch.

I guess we should find out in the coming months as we haven’t really seen how you get into different apps etc on the Wii U.

  • BIGBUTTER

At Different movements the Nintendo Rep looks like he has a big pony tail because of the poster behind them hehe…Yes out of all the info thats what I came away with. 59 Days left!!

While it could be useful at times I don’t see myself using it much, I dont watch regular TV programing much, getting a Wii U for the games not watching TV shows.

  • BlueYoshi211

    @1:18 LOL fifty first dates

Really, all this could mean for me is the youtube stuff Reggie was talking about. XD I don’t have any subscriptions like hulu, nor ever really watch tv. :P Still, it’d be nice to have youtube on Wii U though.

  • Tails the Foxhound

This is surprisingly interesting. This may get more use out of me than I thought.
