New Super Mario Bros. U 2

IGN has shared a video review for New Super Mario Bros. U and it’s after the break.

  • TeenChampion

the only thing i’d disagree with are the graphics. i think they look amazing.

    • http://twitter.com/GamemistressEU GameMistress

I agree there, the game looks beautiful!

    • Ziggy

I think he means the pipes, there too metallic and smooth

    • anonymous

It looks good, but not amazing.

    • Link01000

Well the game’s actual graphics aren’t very good, but the art style is awesome, and the graphical power needed for the art style isn’t very much. That’s what bothers me about the majority of reviewers, they don’t judge on art style, but graphics.

    • James Nguyen

His point was they’re nice. They could have done more.

    • Luca

I think he was saying the resolution is nice, but the textures could have been improved. I also disagree, what more does he want? It looks amazing.

  • NIgga

does not deserve 9.1. Such an uncreative game, should have gotten 6 or 7 or something

    • Mr. Foogy

      Have you played it through?

    • http://www.facebook.com/tyrell.jones.9 Tyrell Jones

so you’ve already played the game then? As opposed to just watching video trailers of the game?

    • AxGamer

      Cry MOOOOOOOOOOOAR

    • waluigi

Didn’t gave it a 9.1 because its not.

  • Sonic20012

Wow, I’m surprised NSMBU got a 9.1 rating from IGN. I thought the game would have bad reviews, but guess I was wrong. Will be picking up this game when I get the Wii U.

  • IkeFE

As a huge fan of video game music… what the hell is Nintendo thinking using the same music for a FORTH…. TIME?

    • Plazma

If anything, that is the largest disappointment about this game so far for me.

  • CHECKit095

New Super Mario Bros. U WILL ALSO HAVE DLC!!!!!!

    • boyonthemoon

who cares, if its like 3ds its just a few overpriced levels

  • torpedofin

Hmm, we probably won’t see another NSMB game for about 5 yrs or so. Miyamoto has restricted nintendo’s production of NSMB games to 1 per system, I guess to avoid uninspired games. What makes me sad about these games is, they are trying to recapture the original games and are thus quite simple with little additions to the formula, but NSMBU is no doubt a homage to mario world but you can’t do a spin jump or throw shells up. So while being cautious to avoid complicating the formula they leave out the little innivations that made each of the original games so fresh and fun.

Um….you can do a spin jump.

    • torpedofin

no, not the spin mid jump thing, I mean the spin jump that would break blocks and stuff, it’s no big thing I would have liked to see some new moves in the game though.

  • Rocket-Dragon

Nice score. Didn’t expect that to be honest.
Thought it would be very much like the other NSMB games, with some better graphics, but I’m glad that it’s more then that. Still annoys me that they couldn’t come up with some new tunes for this game. I usually love the music in the Mario games, but was never a big fan of the NSMB music (with exception from the koopalings battle themes. Love those!), so I’m still a bit disappointed.
Probably get it as soon as I have the money though. ZombiU is at the top of my Wii U game list right now, so If it doesn’t turn out to be a terrible game (which I highly doubt), I’ll get that one first.

2:38 I’m totally gonna die on THAT challenge stage. O.O

  • NEStalgia

The game looks beautiful, and the level design looks to be very good as well, but why use the same generic, boring music four times in a row? C’mon man!

  • NintendoBro589

As a fan of the New Super Mario Bros. series myself, this game looks like a great installment to the series. I very much am bummed that they are using the same music, once again, though. But I don’t think that the music will really effect the most important parts of the game, though — Gameplay, graphics, and level designs. All of those important parts of gameplay look very well-done in this game.

Like I said, still sad that they just had to go an recycle the music, though.

  • Ryan Welsh

I actually had a chance to play the game today and it looked very good. Annoying thing is your gameplay is shortly paused when another player is damaged/hit. The graphics looked great though.
