Nintendo has revealed video chatting via the Wii U. Its implementation is shown above.

  • ohhh

    YAY!

  • jesse

DAT BLACK WII U, IM SO HAPPY

  • Hylianhero64

I wonder if it will have Skype? Well, that’s owned by MS, but it’d still be nice if the Wii U used something that perhaps non-Wii U owners would have as well. It’d be hilarious to skype with someone who is using a Kinect.

    • MikeJones

No, just simple video chat, no Skype branding per se, but something similar to it.

  • cancelln

I was confused during the video; did the guy in the video know the old man he was video chatting with, or was it just some random guy? They made it seem kinda like it was just a random guy, but it seems very un-Nintendo-like to allow video chatting with strangers.

    • George Tirebiter

He’s the man who made those Medium calls last night. XD

    • Roy Lagendijk

It’s a random guy, but I suppose Nintendo will allow this to be blocked for minors thanks to parental settings. :)

    • Busted Hope

It was the guy who posted how he could beat the zombie, a random guy yes

    • retlawxx10

      LOOKS RAMDOM

    • deathisme

i hope it is random i think nintendo are growing up alittle bit

  • merrick

is that black wii u going to be at launch? if so ill pre order that one when pre oders go up

    • MikeJones

No he did not. It’s part of the social networking they’re implementing into the system.

    • MikeJones

Wrong comment, I meant to say yes it is.

  • Classic Hyper Sonic The Hedgehog

XD That video of the guy and the zombie game was so cheesy…

    • adam

      I actually liked it

    • donzaloog

It got the point across nicely.

    • AM

Cheesy but got its point across.

    • Mariobro

      Agreed

  • George Tirebiter

And now we wait for the Miiverse article so all the parts can come together into one picture.

  • Big E

This would be my least used feature. Also: Y U NO GREEN WII U?

    • TheOtaku

savin that for zeldas 30th anniversary perhaps?
      ;D

  • DarkRoseKid

I wonder if you can block people from calling on this or u can just use the chat without the video?

    • Divad

I would imagine that you can ignore or block. As nintendo has tried to avoid users being abused by others which is why the wii’s online was pretty weak.
And for no video, turn the controller upside down :P

  • NintendoBro64

has anyone else noticed that the wii u controll pad is siting on that concepted charger, and look at that smexy wii u console next to the wii remote oh yeah!

  • Joessss

The old man was actually his grandfather not some stranger, in the video he stated it and was uncomfortable calling him grandpa

    • Ricardo

No, you did not watch the video correctly. If the gamer knew the man, he would of said, “Hey, Grandpa!”

When the Old man said “Call me grandpa! :)” the gamer said he was uncomfortable saying that BECAUSE he did NOT know him.

      End of discussion.

  • donzaloog

Looks like he set the contoller down on the charging station, before he started chatting with the old man. And OMG, that Black Wii U is SEXY!

    • JamesD

      Leave luck to heaven. :P

    • Mariobro

      Me+BlackWiiU=MY PRECIOUS

  • Ricardo

Guys, do you think the Wii U would overheat if the system is on and I have it set on my carpet ground for too long? So would I set my Wii U on glass, or if I leave it on the carpet, I cannot play it for long?

    Please respond, please.

    • merrick

i dont think it will if i can put my phat xbox 360 on the rug without it bursting into flames i think the wii u will be fine

    • Big E

      Put it on a table?

    • Ricardo

On a table? Well, I have a glass surface table that I could put it on. I guess it’s better than carpet. Thanks!

    • AM

Make sure you do not cover the vents on the system or any fans. A glass surface would be good.

    • Ricardo

      Thank you, AM!

    • Big E

A rug wouldn’t be bad, but there’s always that chance of trpping over or onto the system. And if you plan on having the system connected to the internet almost all the time, having it raised from the ground would provide a better connection.

    • Captain N

Never put any electronic on carpet……it can overheat….and it can cause a fire. This goes for any electronic.

  • Green Reuben

    I want that tv

  • Lucie

That old dude is soo cool.

  • Some guy

    Wait, that console isn’t white.

OOHH!!! OOHH!!! MULTIPLE COLOURS!! MULTIPLE COLOURS!!

  • Rhino Pubes
    • Big E

YES! OH MY GOD! YES! That thing is the new Nyan Cat in the making!

    • http://MacroManJr.blogspot.com/ Brian L.

I was wondering how soon that would be a picture! Hahaha! That’s easily gonna be THE epic meme from this year’s E3!

  • deathisme

the console itself looks really small. to small to be a powerhouse

    • Craig E

You really think something needs to be big to be a powerhouse? Seriously, you’re living in the past.

    • cancelln

With that logic, computers of the 80′s/90′s would be more powerful than the computers of today which is definitely not the case.

  • Craig E

I’m surprised you haven’t noticed… but I’m pretty sure he put the GamePad on it’s dock just then :P

  • http://MacroManJr.blogspot.com/ Brian L.

That video was over-the-top and purposely-cheesy and I liked it. Did you hear that, non-specific action figure? I liked it! Hahaha!

    • Mariobro

      that was….. HILARIOUS!
