Nintendo eShop Logo

It took a while, but with the launch of the Wii U, Nintendo has finally provided an impressive amount of control to developers releasing their titles on the eShop. They’re able to set their own price, set their own release date, offer discounts on their game without prior approval, create demos, release patches, and add micro-transactions to their titles. Significant changes (such as changes to a game’s code) still require Nintendo’s approval, but this process seems to be quicker than the Xbox 360 and PS3.

About 3 weeks, not that long. 3DS took long to just get an eshop.

    • Ace Hood

But this does explain why come the 3DS eShop has been exploding withh older 3rd party retail games that had already came out months ago, but just got a digital release recently out of nowhere.

  • Ziggy

    But Sonic had an update…

  • Tails the Foxhound

Except for the micro-transactions this all sounds like it’ll work out fantastic for us.

    • Kushi

who knows, maybe it will mean more free to play games? only time will tell whether micro transactions will be a blessing or a curse.

    • Tails the Foxhound

I’ve never played a free to play game that I liked, but that’s just me.

    • Lord Infamous

      The Simpson’s tapped out.

Microtransactions are good, but not when they are ABUSED. I’m looking at you, Ubisoft…

    • Tails the Foxhound

I’ve gotten DLC I’ve loved myself, but I’m more worried about the Capcoms and EAs of the world. With any luck some of them will learn.

  • Hybrilynx

i want to make my own game and sell it.

  • Tecpedz94

    YAY!!!!

nintendo will never catch up the psn store, the eshop is a joke, its a online store for kids thats why is so restricted, nintendo cannot keep trying to protect kids with this friend code and limited online store thing, thats why alot of people like me are just giving up on them.

I remember when nintendo was for core gamers, RIP Nintendo 1991-2006

Trine 2 developer Frozenbyte’s Joel Kinnunen – who previously published Trine on PSN and Steam and its sequel on the same plus XBLA – said, “the Wii U eShop is much better than XBLA and PSN from this point of view. Updates still need certification if they’re meaningful (i.e. changes ‘code’) but it seems like that’s not a very long process usually – i.e. not the two to three weeks wait that the other platforms have.”

Plus, the restrictions go towards the DEVELOPERS, Not the consumer.

    • Ace Hood

      I agree with Ian Bailey.

    • Lord Infamous

      Mewtwo.

    • Kaizar

      Mii Three.

    • BellaKazza

You are a total troll, anything you say is completly irrelivant. Shut your trap, the eShop is now better then the PSN store and XBLA. So get out of here you lousy troll.

” the eShop is now better then the PSN store”

I can buy a PS1 game from the PSN website and it works on PS3, PSP and Vita.

The Nintendo eShop is THE best place to go when it comes to the most unique games, video demos, etc.
